You can not be serious. If I ever thought you had any musical knowledge (not sure I ever did), I must have been extremely wrong. Bohemian Rhapsody is the OPPOSITE of easy-listening and more complex than all other three put together. Hotel California and Free Bird are basic pop songs if we exclude the solos. Yes, the solos of both of them are outstanding. Otherwise, from the melodic structures they don't differ at all from anything mainstream. Both have amazing lyrics and are good storytellers but Bohemian Rhapsody is so much more. From the musical structure to the modernist literary influences (there everything in it from Dostoevsky to Proust to Camus), the guitar solo, the a-Capella part, the rhythm changes , the production, the opera-like structure, not to mention the vocals of Freddie.

I've never really understood the hype about Bohemian Rhapsody anyway.

It's more like you never understood the song itself. I have no problem with anyone liking Hotel California or Free Bird better but saying that those songs are more complex than Bohemian Rhapsody can only be the conclusion of a philistine. Which you are. Bohemian Rhapsody is probably the most avant-guardits piece of music created in recent times and I don't know ANY other band who had the balls to release anything even close to Bohemian Rhapsody.
