I am very well aware that I know absolutely nothing about basses, but even I can detect Billy's talent at bass-playing. He's amazing!!! That's why I love Mr. Big, they're all so very excellent at their instruments, and they do things that most players wouldn't even think of, let alone know how to play.
I don't know if they are original or not, who came up with these guitar/bass harmonies and playing guitars with drills and stuff... But at least they sound amazing when Mr. Big are playing them.
I've been to Billy's site yes, but didn't download that song - I need to do that at home!
