Default Muse - The Resistance

I'm lovin' this album at the moment, it's got an 80's vibe about it.

Anyone else got it?

A prime example of a great band getting progressively worse.

"Showbiz" and "Origin Of Symmetry" were spectacular!
"Absolution" was pretty decent in places
"Black Holes & Revelations" was atrocious. Where's the rock gone? Too ****ing soft! Sunk to the level that appeals to those folk who base their buying habits on what Radio 1 plays/says.

The live show too has declined. It used to be energetic and raw, now it's more sterile and safe. More about flashy light sequences than the music.

I've not heard the new album (i will give it a few listens), but the lead single was an absoloute TURD.

Never really been a fan. Their better than most bands that are around at the moment (as musicians at least) and I do appreciate the whole experimental thing they got going on, but their music does nothing for me. And Matt Bellamy has one of the most annoying voices IMO. I like a few songs though.

I really like it, not as much as I liked BH&R, but it has substance. The middle tracks are a little to boring for my tastes; I hate all the piano interludes he seemed hellbent on throwing in. Guiding Light sounds like a lame version of Always. But there's some really great stuff here. The title track reminds me almost of the Styx, and I totally dig the symphony at the end; inventive stuff I wish our band would have the balls to do.

Thank god for a bit of sense, I think some people bash Muse without even listening to their stuff.

The only thing on the album I disagree with is United states of Eurasia, I think they've gone out of their way to sound like Queen, and it comes off a bit cheesy.

Every muse album is different, from the doom laden hard rock of Absolution to the Disco flamboyance of BHAR. But it always seems to work.

No one does it like Muse anymore. The stadium shows in the summer should be interesting.
