Just bought the album and loving it, so much energy and great tunes. Cant believe its 28 years since their last album and now desperate to see them live. Ive not had a chance to read the credits on the cd yet but is that really Wolfgang playing bass on some of those tracks? Some of it sounds so good youd believe they had Billy Sheehan guesting on it. Ive got to admit though if theres one thing its missing its Michael Anthonys backing vocals which really make up the trademark Van Halen sound.

Van Halen took to the LA Forum tonight to play out a full dress rehearsal of their 2012 show, to a crowd of invited friends, fans and industry folk. And of course I had a contact planted in the crowd. Photos of the event are below. The set list for the night was: You Really Got Me, Running With The Devil, She's The Woman, Somebody Get Me A Doctor, Tattoo, Everybody Wants Some, Beautiful Girls, Ice Cream Man, China Town, Dance The Night Away, Hot For Teacher, Blood And Fire, Guitar Solo, Panama, Jump.
Not the full setlist btw, so now even more desperate to see them!

Actually there are high, Michael Anthony-like background vocals on the album (in She's the woman for example), so I don't get what exactly everybody is missing....

Can't believe Shanks was involved in the recording process of this album as it sounds pretty transparent AND old school... pretty much the contrary to BJs Shanks-produced albums.
On the other hand there's no mention of which parts of the Shanks or Russ Hogarth sessions were used.

Well all that counts in the end: It's a fantastic album. Period.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere the band recorded the music with Hogarth and Roth did the vocals with Shanks. Not sure how accurate that is.

I like the song as well and who cares about the video anyway?
It's about the music, if you want to see a proper video, rent a movie.

I salute you,
TS
