Default The greatest single songs you have seen performed live

Those really special ones - moments of absolute elation...

Let's start with New Order - True Faith @ Reading '98

[editing this thread a lot - do realise I had put REM up before! - this is WELL worth watching tho. Just as good as it gets]

Insanely, Garbage had to follow this! It just had me floating feet of the ground.... But the perfect end to a weekend when the world seemed to belong to my generation and everything was just so.

Watching this, I'm reminded of the payoff for all those gigs. So not a waste of time and money.

you mean seen performed live?

Off the top of my head:

Ray davies - waterloo sunset (i felt like I had an epiphany when he played it)

Art Garfunkel - Pretty much everything in his set but El Condor Pasa, Mrs Robinson, America and the Boxer really stood out for me.

Bruce - Jungleland, the river, atlantic city

Good thread. I'm sure I have plenty more. I shall report back.

Strangely enough I wouldn't put U2 in their. Hopefully it'll be different on Tuesday but I just didn't feel like the songs come off particularly well live.

For me with Ray Davies it has always been Set Me Free - just when that guitar lick kicks in. Hits you so deep in your heart.

:uts on Set Me Free::

Oasis - Slide Away. Was ****ing brilliant, had my arm round one of my best mate's shoulder and we were screaming out the lyrics. Best song ever. Morning Glory, Cigarettes And Alcohol and Rock 'n' Roll Star were all amazing too. **** it, every song was brilliant.

The Boss - Jungleland. I'd been shouting out for it throughout the gig and when he played it I almost felt like crying/having a wank/both.

Neil Young - A Day In The Life. When he covered this Beatles song, Paul McCartney came onstage and sang the bridge with him! Was pretty much the greatest moment I've ever seen live. Down By The River. Hellz yeah, 20 minute version of one of his best tunes. When Neil's on form you can't fault him. Also opener Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black), Rockin' In The Free World, ****in' Up...

Paul Weller - Town Called Malice. Was a final encore at his great gig at the O2 and everyone went mad.

Bon Jovi - Prayer's a brilliant opener tbf

Already I'm gonna be the third person to say The River.

At Bruce's acoustic Royal Albert Hall show it jsut tipped an already overemotional show into something else entirely. Didn't see a single person in the audience who wasn't in tears at some point.

FWIW, I did once see a guy light up a crack pipe during Eminem.
