I love stuff like Purple Rain (obviously!) 1999, Little Red Corvette, etc etc
but the more recent stuff is a bit :E :E :E

Yup, it's the cover. Really there is not much difference between this CD and their other greatest hits cd. But mine was completely worn out so I got it. Besides American Band, it also has a cover of Rock and Roll All Nite, and another newer song called Shooting Star (not the Bad Company song). I bought it cause it was on sale for $9.99 and there was a sticker on there with a site to get early concert tickets for their tour.
