When I bought the first Coldplay, I couldn't bring myself to listen to it all the way through. I put it in the car for some long trip and I kept playing it over and over and never even realized when one song ended and the next started. It was that boring to me. I put the album away for a long time, then I listened to it when I was in the mood for 'elevator music' and it just clicked. I really like both previous albums.

Don't get me wrong, they aren't in my favorite pool like Audioslave would be as it's completely different music. I'd never listen to Coldplay when I really want to rock out. However, there are times (like Sunday afternoons) when Coldplay is just perfect.

I am not done listening to the entire album, but from what I've heard so far, I like it. Though it is the same Coldplay as before. If you don't like their previous albums, I doubt you'd like this one.
