I'm sure you wasnt talking serious. A very funny joke.

Today, Freddie died 12 years ago. 5-Sep-1946, 25-Nov-1992. R.I.P.

P.D. The Question, of course!! Queen are much better

hmmmm....

i like "we will rock you" to get a party started, or "we are the champions" for soccer games, i laughed when i first heard "radio gaga", but most of these "pop-rock" songs are boring after some time...

but why am i not surprised that people here like that? because bon jovi makes the same kind of music! ("it's my life", "prayer" etc.)

there's nothing wrong with songs like that, but hey, compared with blues based songs like "since i've been loving you" they just don't have a chance! i don't understand how somebody who understands something about music (well probably a lot of people don't), could seriously prefer pop-rock and "hot space"-dance music to innovative, influential blues-rock.

and i was serious when i wrote this! i could have stated the same thing with jimmi page instead of john bonham....

maybe by queen fans....
on the international rock music encyclopedia you can find
"roger taylor: drummer from the popular rock band queen." that's all.
about john bonham they wrote 3 entire pages! i here quote just one small part of it: "immitators are usually left frustrated, since bonham made it look so easy - not only in his playing but also in the incredible drum sound he achived. his legendary right foot and lightning-fast triplets like nobody else could do - probably until today nobody can - were his instant trademark....."

but enough words, if you listen to it you will hear it yourself!

Well, I donīt think Led Zep made something similar to "Bohemian Rhapsody", nobody did. Talking about Queen, you have named some "easy to listen songs", and maybe you're right about them. But instead of naming some of their easy to listen songs, like "Radio Gaga", or most from the album Hot Space(I have to say this is not a very good album, a lot of dance music), you could have named songs like "The prophet's Song", "Under Pressure"(the only good from "Hot Space"), "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Somebody to love"(with those great voices), "Innuendo"... tracks with a lot of work on them, and a superb production, and the better voice of all time. I don't think Queen were just a pop-rock, not innovative band. That's absolutely false. They didn't play blues, like you seem to like, but hey, there are other things in music apart from blues!! About Roger Taylor, I like him a lot, not only as a drummer, but a composer, singer, and as a musician in general.

Queen are a superb band but I have to pick you up on this:

If you just mean "epics", then here goes (live versions)

Stairway to heaven
dazed and confused
whole lotta love
kashmir
since i've been lovin' you
the song remains the same
in my time of dying

Well, I didnīt mean just epics. You'll have to agree with me that "Bohemian Rhapsody" is something different to anything recorded till that moment, I mean, it's a mix of opera, rock, ballad, Brian May solos... Talking about epics songs, I would say a couple from Queen...
-Brighton Rock
-Tie your mother down
-One vision
-I want it all
-Innuendo
-The Show must go on(last song from the last record in Freddie's life...)

Bye!!!!

One Vision and IWIA aren't particularly epic... From what I remember, neither is TSMGO

Keep On Rockin'

first of all: i never said that i don't like Queen, only said that i think Led Zeppelin were a lot better...

i agree that i could have named better songs, but i named 3 of the 4 most popular (or at least here these three plus BR are the most popular queen songs, but i think this probably goes for almost everywhere). if you name some of the most popular Led Zeppelin songs you will end up with some great rock classics. they just didn't do these "easy to listen" songs!

they are a rock band, yes. but there are (almost) no rock bands without influences of other music styles. it's ok if you think different, but in my eyes these influences in Queens music are: pop/glam-rock, dance music, opera metal and funk. influences to Led Zeppelin music: blues and classical music. music should create emotions, and the crucial point is: every kind of emotion! classical music does that. but today almost nobody listens to this sort of music anymore. there's new music. and there's new music that still evokes all different feelings and music that just doesn't and dance music and metal definitely doesn't (yeah they create emotions, but only of one kind). in my eyes there's not too many emotions in Queen music, but there is every possible emotion in Led Zeppelins music. i studied classical music for many years and maybe that's the reason why a lot of new stuff just sounds simpel and non-innovative to me and then there's other music that is still fascinating and Led Zep sound is one example...

maybe i shouldn't say the following here, cause i'm not saying it about Queen (so don't quote me wrong!!) but a lot of pop-rock music just sounds all the same and is really only "easy to listen" songs! all played in the same beat (4/4), all played "fortissimo" (what happened to mezzo-forte, piano, pianissimo, crescendo and decrescendo??) and all boring after listening for some time exactly to it. now, some Queen songs fit right into this category, for example the three songs i named above.

that's ok. i like him too. but as a drummer you just can't compare him with boham. as a singer he would of course win against bonham easily, but that wasn't my point. by the way: john bonham was a great composer too!!

is that an argument? well then i have to say:
i don't think Queen made something similar to "Dazed And Confused", nobody did. :P

hope you don't take anything personal, and i say it again: i like Queen. Led Zep are just a lot better. that's all.

for me this question is almost the same like the bounce - these days question in the other forum. oh ok, there's a difference: Queen is ok with a few exceptions while bounce sucks with a few exceptions... and a second difference: TD has won the poll while Led Zep looses, but i think that's cause everybody knows TD and bounce, but not too many people here really know Led Zep too well...
