Default R.E.M. breaks up

For those who haven't heard:

"To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening." R.E.M. http://remhq.com/news_story.php?id=1446

I've always been an R.E.M. fan. Sad to see them go.

I assume their last few albums have tanked then?

Classic band, they'll be back.

I know many people loved them as band, personally I never could appreciate them. Still it was an iconic band and seeing them split up makes me realise I'm getting old as I more or less grew up with them being around on the radio, for the better or worse.

I salute you,
TS
