Default Request for really good music editors - Guns n Roses

As any GNR fan knows, there are 2 versions of Don't Cry. I was listening to it on the radio this weekend thinking how awesome it would be if there was a version that was the original up to the verse after the guitar solo. But instead of "You gotta make it your own way, but you'll be alright now sugar, You'll feel better tomorrow come the morning light now baby", use the alternate version lyrics "And when you're in need of someone, My heart won't deny you, So many seem so lonely, With no one left to cry to baby."

Anyone think they could pull that off?

I think Audacity would do just the trick. It would simply be a case of splitting each version of the song around 3:10 then mix & matching each part together. My two CD's are still at my parents (as are ALL of my CD's as it happens) so I couldn't do a high quality one right now.

EDIT: Just had a quick mess around with the mp3 versions I have of each version with Audacity and while they appear to match length-wise, the beats don't match up throughout the whole song. Clearly each version' s play-speed differs ever so slightly. I shifted the Alt. Version forward a little and managed to match it up so it plays seamlessly! Once I get my CD versions I'll try it with the wav files.

Cool idea!

As a big time GNR fan, I hate the alt. version, but that final verse is definitely better than the "original"! So I would be very interested to hear the final product if someone's able to pull it off.

FYI, in case some people don't know it there are actually 3 versions of Don't Cry; with the first one being from 1987 with Adler on drums; which off course didn't make it on Appetite, because they didn't want any ballads on it.

Ive put together my MP3 version if anyone's wants to hear it. Just PM me.

And I did not know of that 1987 version either! I see it was released on the original CD single.

EDIT: Just done a .WAV version of this edit now, from my own CD's.
