Default Review: Angels & Airwaves - We Don't Need To Whisper

Angels & Airwaves, might be the most highly anticipated band of 2006. This marks the return of Tom Delonge, former axe man from blink-182. Right before blink broke up, Tom had a great idea for a new side project. Of course, other side projects had taken place such as Box Car Racer, The Transplants, and now Plus 44... But nothing can bring up more speculation than the likes of Angels & Airwaves who just debuted their first video for the song "The Adventure". Now, for some, the speculation has come to an end. On the eve of the Promotional Tour, "We Don't Need To Whisper" leaked onto the internet. Will it live up to it's speculation and will Tom's new band battle to the top of the music scene? Only an hour of music will say so now...

Angels & Airwaves - We Don't Need To Whisper

Valkyrie Missle - A very cool intro to the album and the song also has an AWESOME intro. It kicks into high gear and remains that way throughout the song with "astronauts" talking in the background. It's very very beautiful. At the end of the song you can hear the background astronauts say "Who do you think we are?..... Angels and Airwaves". 9/10

Distraction - This is not one of my favorites from the get go. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but the song just doesn't have the meaning the others do. It's solid in it's sound. 7/10

It Hurts - An awesome intro that gets things kicking into high gear. I heard a snippet of this song a bit ago and I was LOVING what I was hearing. Again, everything is pretty mellow until the chorus. You can obviously hear the "hurt" behind the lyrics. A very melodic song with an eerie guitar sound here and there. Cool thing is that there is a small guitar bit towards the middle of the song that kicks back into the chorus with a big amount of momentum. This marks the climax of the song and it definently is beautiful. 8/10

Do It For Me Now - A very cool intro again with drums and a cool guitar diddy. Everything is so melodic and sounds just amazing, out of this world to be exact. The cool thing about this song and with any song to be honest, I can picture a video for these songs. It's really cool. Again, the effects help the chorus sound pretty melodic. It's really indescribable and it's tough to type a review. Towards the end, Tom with a bit of emotion repeats "Hold on to me" time and time again. It's very beautiful as weird as that sounds. The back up vocals are very good too. 8/10

The Adventure - The single, a very good song with another effect related intro. Lots of effects in this one and finally it kicks in. It was probably the best look at a lead off single. Everything is pretty basic and it's actually pretty repetitive. For those that heard it, lots of cool effects with the guitar and effects. 8/10

The War - Huge intro with this massive drum sound with "picking" guitar backing it up. It really sounds like an army marching into battle. The guitar kicks and making it EXTREMELY heavy for how small the album start. It's badass. Tom sounds the best in the song and the chorus is extremely catchy. This has a more solid feel and is an instant killer. It's my favorite so far. Absolutely loving this one. 10/10

A Little's Enough - The intro is very quite and the effects make it seem like you are in space, exploring the universe. It's so beautiful. The chorus is catchy and brings tears to my eyes. I just can't describe the beauty behind it. Most will think I'm stupid, but it really is awesome. The song pretty much stays this way, but it is definently up there as one of my favorites. 10/10

The Gift - The only problem with the version of the album I have is that it's cut up where a few songs are different from what the album versions will be. This song has crappy quality unfortunately. It's a very good song with a basic intro with a very amazing chorus. Everything is very catchy and it's another one of those songs that are up there. 9/10

Good Day - This is a pretty good song. It's not as catchy, but the music is very simple and this is probably one of my least favorites. It's not bad but it's not great. 7/10

Start The Machine - The intro is very childish until this bass effect comes in and turns everything upside down. It's very awesome. The chorus is extremely beautiful again. It's a very solid song and has a very solid sound. The cool guitar effect is present in this one also. Having the album end of the bells effect makes a good ending. 9/10

Overall, I give the album a 9/10. It's one of those albums you just need to go to a dark place outside where there are no lights around and look up at the stars. It's beautiful and a lot of songs stand out. Enjoy this one because it truely is a piece of work. I love it and will continue to love it for years to come.
