Yup agree, I love Affirmation.
Hold Me is one of my favourite songs from it

I love Affirmation too - great album, haven't listened in ages though. I think Two Beds and a Coffee Machine was my favourite...

Insatiable is probably still my fave solo Darren song:

It was actually Daniel Jones who wanted to quit the music business and go back to teaching or whatever he did before. He missed the family too much.

I saw them live twice, luckily, and they were awesome.

You need to listen to his latest album if you haven't already, "Secret Codes And Battleships." It is the shiznit - fell in love with it almost instantly! Up until it was released I wasn't a massive fan of his solo stuff, but it made me go back and relisten. His range is insane.

Really? Ive watched YouTube videos of him barely being able to sing man on the moon and "I Want you" is auto tuned live T Pain style and it sounds awful. The more I listen to them live, the more I realize that all they are is a good studio band.

90% of what I've heard him do live, including SG material within like, the last year, is flawless - he's gotta be one of the best live singers around mang.

I haven't listened to them in an age, the glorious harmonies and melodies,

Affirmation is indeed a great one, very consistent, I'll put it on again today - week off from work and ideal time to catch up on Music - sweet melodies a-comin'!

This. As he wrote all the music, Darren never got anywhere solo.

I love Affirmation the album and most of the songs on the first album as well. Whis Daniel would write more songs as he seems to have a natural talent for great pop songs.

Oh God, I'm so pleasantly surprised to find this thread here! I was a die hard fan for four years! <3

Their split was strangely coincidental because Daniel said they were splitting up in an interview and it was something that startled Darren because although they had talked about some time off, he had no choice as to confirm later on. Dan wanted out because he did miss his family and all he was interested in was working in the studio and recording while Darren was a stage animal. It was the time when he discovered he was gay and his marriage fell apart, too so you can just image the commotion... His solo album was rushed and it wasn't as successful as Darren had expected so he suffered from severe depression afterwards... After some time he recorded The Tension and The Spark which is pretty heavy and dark and the lyrics describe his emotional state way too well...Then the aforementioned Secret Codes and Battleships. Brilliant and unique in its own way but it's NOT Savage Garden. It seems that magic works between two people and is rarely found in one person. Just think about Jon and Richie while they themselves admitted many times it was their chemistry and magic of their voices intertwine *sigh*

Savage Garden reunion is IMPOSSIBLE and both sides confirmed it firmly. Too bad the only thing they agreed on was the Greatest Hits Compilation

The magic never dies but good will does.
