Why do GNR songs? Slash wants to distance himself from them yet still plays the songs!

Why not?
He also created those songs.
Slash only wants to distance himself from Axl.

Q mag gave it 1/5 and basically said its dreadful.

Great line in the review says "under that hat even slash knows the game was over years ago"

couldnt agree more.

Slash wants to distance himself from all the drama around GnR. You know, showing up late, leaving the stage when someone threw a paperclip on stage, that kind of stuff. He still enjoys playing the classics and does it better than the 50 guitarists Axl has hired over the past 10 years.

I've just bought a ticket for Slash in Amsterdam. GnR is playing 10 miles away from here and I've decided to skip them. I don't feel the urge to wait for 5 hours until his clownesque festivities start and make me sit through odd guitar solo's of guitarists no one cares for.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Gn'r Are actually not doing that bad...

The more i attempt to listen to Slash's album, the less i like it. It's not that its bad really, it does what it was set out to do...but nothing more. Everything on this album, Slash has done countless of times before, and his even then them better...much better actually.

Myles does a decent enough job on most of the tracks, although there are some tracks were i think he lets the band down. We Will Roam for example

I do think that sounds rather bad. It sounds so clinical, there's no emotion in the songs at all, no feeling. The guitarists are either trying to copy riffs from Slash and Izzy or are trying to play as fast as they can without there being any structure in the guitar solo's. I got my hopes up when GnR added Civil War and Estranged to the set, but it just doesn't sound right.

And I agree that often what Slash has done, he's done before. However, the same can be said of many artists, AC/DC comes to mind. It doesn't make the music any worse and if you follow Slash from his Snakepit days to where he is now he still changes his style here and there. He's just a blues/hard rock guitar player and has mastered that quality to perfection.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Really? IMO i think that's a pretty spot on performance, but to each their own.

Post-GNR, the only album i really like that Slash played a part in was Contraband. Now that was a great album IMO.

Libertad sucked unfortunately, and the Snakepit albums each have 2 or 3 songs i like, but the rest are pretty meh.

Slash need Axl and vice versa
The album sales prove that.
Also I got text from Orange offering buy 2-4-1 GNR tickets for the O2.
This happened two years ago they announced two dates there and couldnt fill the 2nd night. The top tier was curtained off.
Yet if original GnR reformed they would sell out Wembley Stadium at least 3 times.

I like it, me. 'She Builds Quick Machines', 'Let It Roll', 'Gravedancer' and 'Demons, Pills & Etc.' are all great I think.
