I have to say I prefer Apocalyptic Love. A lot of songs stood out for me straight away whereas not that many have on this. I haven't listened to it half as much as I'd have liked too due to work though so that may be why.

'Bent To Fly' is the standout song for me.

World On Fire sounds more as a whole to me.
Agreed.
"World On Fire" is the much better album for me too. It took some while to get into it as at first listen each song seems to sound alike and not all melodies jump on you straight away, but once the songs clicked it really did.

Standouts:

World On Fire - Great driving r'n'r song
The Dissident - great partytune.
Bent To Fly
Beneath The Savage Sun
Avalon

Am listening a lot to this album these days. It still grows on me. Doesn't have too many standout tracks per se, but it's so much more of a unit than "Apocalyptic Love". Never could get into that one completely.

Funny, because I was anticipating "Chinese Democracy" so much back then and never got into it, though I've tried hard. Haven't listened to it in ages. Overproduced crap.

I have the same Simon. This album sure does sound a lot more like a whole and not a collection of songs like AL. It has as much standout tracks to me as AL did but because this sounds more like a unit as you said it makes the album a lot better.

I salute you,
TS
