I'll just take the being cool part. I guess it's a compliment hae ?
And unhealthy obsession is definitely correct.

I salute you,

Couldn't find Elvis Costello's version of Brilliant Disguise on YouTube, but that one's obviously... well, brilliant.

This one is great, too: Brian Fallon (of The Gaslight Anthem) - Backstreets.

Can I just say - scratch that - I WILL say. I am terribly surprised and sickened at you lot, and myself because I also did not notice until now, that no one has decided to name this thread "COVER ME".

I mean, could there be a more suitable name?

Julian Casablancas of The Strokes has started to cover Dancing In The Dark at his gigs:

Very cool.

These covers by David Bowie really are BRILLIANT. I was extremely impressed.
It's Hard To Be A Saint is especially great. Been playing them out loud a lot lately.

GROWIN' UP

IT'S HARD TO BE A SAINT IN THE CITY

I'm now dreaming of Bowie covering The E Street Shuffle and Kitty's Back. That could have been astonishing.

Yes these are cool. Sounds like Bowie's trying to sing like Bruce. they met in the studio back in the 70-ies when Bowie recorded these 2 tracks.

Eddie Vedder's done quite a few covers. One Step up and Growing up are really good.
