ive got a solo acoustic gig in a few weeks and i have a rough idea of what im going to do songwise.

its going to be a mostly originals with some obscure cool covers

i was pondering (as you do ) the setlist and alot of it is kind of similar with pace and feel and IMO makes no real difference what order they go in so what im going to do is have maybe the 1st and last few songs set so ive got good openers and closers then have every other song noted down on paper in envelopes

then ill either have a hot girl come up to the stage and pick an envelope gameshow style or throw random ones down to the crowd (ill be up 20ft up on a cordoned off balcony) after every song and have them see whats in it for me.

it adds an element of surprise for me, some easy audience interaction and i might just put some random stuff in there too to keep me on my toes.


like the idea? probably best for me to work out if people think its stupid before i get onstage with a bunch of sealed envelopes instead of a setlist y know....

i dont think you should let the audience decide after every single song. it doesnt seem right for some reason- maybe have some definate songs that youve chosen in between.

it sounds like a cool idea. when dave did milk and cookies he had this song book thing where he got people to call out numbers which correlated to songs in a songbook which worked amazingly well.

i dont know why but i find the balcony thing kinda pretentious. how you gonna decide which envelope to go for? you cant keep picking out the good looking people cause then all the other non good looking people will probably hate you, regardless of whether you performed well or not.

its more of a walkway on the 2nd floor than a balcony. the place doesnt have a stage. its actually kinda cool to look at
