I've been on holiday so not picked it up but number 2 is excellent. Shame they missed out to that twat plan b.

Glad I got tickets for the o2 because if they're shifting serious units this might be the last time to see them in a medium sized venue.

£6 out of tesco. Gaslight Anthem and this month's Men's Health for under a tenner, shove that up your proverbial HMV.

Enjoying my first listen so far. The single malt might be helping

Really liking this.

It sounds a lot like Petty to me and isn't as cluttered in the production as American Slang. I think they overdid that one trying too hard to go for an anthemic stadium sound.

I wouldn't say it's an angry sounding album but it's definitely a lot more introspective than their other stuff which is nice.

They've definitely delved into the back catalogue. Some of it sounds like bits of older songs with different lyrics but there's nothing wrong with that when you're progressions and melodies are so good if you ask me.

Really liking it too - it's been getting a lot of play in my car. I like it way better than American Slang and I think it's moving forward from The 59 Sound. I'm encouraged that there are still some bands out there that can make me excited about hearing them live. My two favorites are getting old and new music is mandatory LOL

Yeah it's good to be excited about new music.

I used to be fanatical about Bloc Party, they're just about putting their 4th album out and I couldn't care less considering the dreck they've put out over the last few years. Even though American Slang wasn't a patch on 59 Sound, it was still a good album.

And on a nice coincidental note, my Glasgow tickets arrived this morning

You got any idea if the Glasgow gig has sold out or not? Can't find tickets anywhere. Think it'll just need to turn to ebay nearer the time.

Still can't get enough of Handwritten, love the album. Did any of you get the deluxe version of it? A couple of the extra songs are brilliant! Blue Dahlia is one of my favourites on the album and theres an excellent cover of Tom Petty's 'You Got Lucky'

Just downloaded the new album to see if it's worth buying. Thought not at first but it's growing on me now so might just get the deluxe edition (for the digipack/bonus tracks)

I salute you,
TS

Anything to help put the final few nails in HMV's coffin

No idea but if there's nothing on ticketmaster then I'd imagine they're gone.

With that being said, there's always tonnes of guys outside the academy punting tickets and if you hit up one of them closer to the city centre / away from the venue, you can usually get a decent price.
