That's one album I never really got into, there are some amazing tracks on there but I never really bonded with it.

I think I may have to revisit.

That is the album that got me hooked on Bruce in the first place. I listen to it regularly still. All songs are special.

When I turned on the River of Glastonbury I hoped to hear the version like they did on the New York DVD. This version is less magical for me because I miss the awesome sax-intro.

I salute you,

Same here. There's no fault with perfect songs like The River and Point Blank but damn, I really don't see the love for this album. I think it's mainly the second disc I don't like too (except for Point Blank and I'm A Rocker), I can't even recall how most of the songs go, even after repeat listenings.

But to be honest, I am kind of glad that there is a Bruce Springsteen album I can't get into, the whole "everything Bruce has released is perfect!" is not something I ever feel comfortable with thinking

Four songs into London Calling, I'm struck by

1 - How much fun the band is having (Love the "on stage" camera work)
2 - How clear the mix is - love how strong the keyboards are coming through, but there's so much detail
3 - The boring London crowd

It is right up there with what I call my favorite albums. The River show last November was the closest thing I have ever had to a religious experience. Fortunately for me we got a fantastic recording and someone else got an ALD/IEM recording and the mix is perfect

I don't have the DVD yet but from personal experience I can confirm that the crowd were totally shit. So much for Oli telling me Bruce makes crowds go insane everywhere

I didn't realise the living dead attended Hyde Park.

They didn't when Pearl Jam or Neil Young played. However, they made a shock reappearance at Paul McCartney What's going on you think?
