Kathleen's advice to me was to start with Bruce's LIVE material. She said it's almost as if he figures out how he wants the music to sound on the road, not in the studio. The 3 CD live set from 1975-85 is amazing, and Live in NYC (2 CDs) is over the top. I spent quite awhile absorbing those and a bunch of bootlegs before I moved on to the studio albums. Of course, Born To Run is a masterpiece, so that should probably be your next studio purchase. I picked up most of the albums I was missing when I was in NJ/NYC for the Izod shows, and I've fallen in love with Darkness on the Edge of Town. It spent days and days in the player in my van. Nebraska still doesn't do it for me, although I love the electric versions of the songs on that album.
