Bryan is going to release a "retro rock" album soon....

http://www.classichitsandoldies.com/v2/64800/

...now what other band used to say that about some of the last few albums they released?

Does sound promising but I'll believe it when I hear it. If it IS a true rock album, then the Reckless reissue/tour must have rubbed off on him.

Very excited about this!

He sounded amazing when I saw him earlier this year, and I loved She Knows Me (the only new song on his last year's cover album) and what he said in that interview gives me hope. Jon should take notes and do the same instead of manufacturing an album every 2-3 years even in his 50s.

The new song is ok. When Bryan described the album as "retro" he wasn't kidding! But by that I thought he might just return to his 80's sound a bit.

"You Belong to Me" is very similar in vein to "Blessing in Disguise" (a bonus track from the Room Service album) and is not leading me to rush out and buy the album at this point. Obviously wait til I've heard more songs then I'll decide. I don't really want another Room Service/11 type album.

Yeah, it sounds like the usual bland stuff from Room Service and 11. It sounds retro, but without all the edges that classic rock & roll can have. It's a shame that he doesn't seem to realize that a vintage rock album like Reckless or even Into The Fire would sell so much better. Or he just no longer wants his stuff to sell.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

The fact that this song is the opening track to the album says to me that the rest of the album will largely be in the same vein, which like I say, doesn't excite me at this point.

I really do question what his motives are for making albums these days, aside from filling up his record deal maybe. The music he's put out the last decade (what there's been of it) has been forgettable save for maybe a few songs. But then he probably more than makes up for lack of sales through touring anyway.

I just found out about the new album and I have to say that I really like the new song. With Burning Bridges and new albums by Def Leppard and Bryan Adams this will be a nice year!

Another new one.

Very Beatles-esque (pre-Sgt Pepper). The song itself is OK and it would be one thing if Jon put out something like this. But with Bryan's great voice and passion I see in his recent live performances, I can't help but feel disappointed that he doesn't want to bring it to his new songs.

The acoustic bits here sound better; I wish this song had a different arrangement, it could achieve more potential.
