Anyone here a fan? I've only heard a couple of songs, but I really love his playing, its so emotive and cool. I wanted to pick up an album, or a greatest hits, wondering if anyone could help me choose one? The only songs I've heard of him so far have been his collaborations, which are cool, I dunno if I'd be much of a fan of pure guitar music, but one or two songs might be alright. Any ideas?

I'm not a big fan but I do have one of his greatest hits. It's called Best Of Santana released in 1998. This is the only album I have of his, that's the only reason I recommend it.

santana are a band, of which carlos santana is lead guitarist.....

supernatural is boring, his playing his hugely repetitive and overrated on that album.

the earlier stuff was better; samba pa ti etc etc

The last two disks of collaborations are ok - I like some of them - but I think the original Santana is still the best. As far as I'm concerned their first album - Abraxas - is one of the best albums ever.

im a huge fan of santana (carlos, not the band), always liked his playing and he is one of my inspirations, i also offer u "Black Magic Woman - The Best of Santana" you'll enjoy it.

¡VIVA CARLOS SANTANA! The earlier stuff anyway. As for the new stuff...easy listening pop music with different influences, cool too though. You do find that most of the newer tracks are other peoples with Santana soloing on them. I think it'd be great to see him live, a complete improviser. ay ay ay corazón espinado...VIVA MANÁ too
