JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

All you need it one lead singer, and maybe two (at the most) background singers.

Now if he was the guitarist I could understand why it would be such a tragedy as he would need replacing, and lots of bands who have replaced members haven't done as well since (e.g. Aerosmith evicting Perry for a short period). But Westlife don't even play music or write their own songs. They suck big time. Can't even believe I have even made the effort to post on this subject.
1. just because you don't think it's a shame, doesn't mean somebody else doesn't.

2. i'm pretty sure one plays guitar on stage but i'm not sure.

3. i'm also pretty sure that they've written some songs themselves.
1. Of course, that's just my opinion, which everyone is entitled to.

2. Yeah well there are many pop stars who play guitar, e.g. Justin Timberlake, but they don't use their guitar to make their own music and therefore use synthesizers instead. I'm not saying synthesizers are bad, but I like to see at least some elements of a song played by human instruments. Maybe Westlif have their own band which records music for them, but I think sucks that they don't do it theirselves.

3. Of course, but obviously they need to rely on doing covers, or other people to create hits for them, by writing songs for them.

Westlife are a prime example of how music has changed over the years. Now all you need to make it is a good looking face, and a half decent voice (which can be modified in the studio to sound like a very good voice). Gone are the days when talented "musicians" had to create their own music and compose there own songs, now just a minimal amount of talent is needed providing you have the looks. It's not just a dig at Westlife. It's a dig at modern music in general. Westlife are just a good example.

Let's face it though, most people in the 50s, 60s and 70s made their own music and wrote their own songs, apart from a few exceptions. These Days seems that most people don't write their songs or make thier own music, apart from a few exceptions. I rest my case.

Music is made to sell.

Like it or not Bon Jovi are as much of a product as Westlife.

Doesn't matter who wrote it or who sings and plays it, if a record is selling then it's a success in the music industry and i doubt anyone can argue that Westlife sell records.

Don't fool yourself into thinking it's suddenly became this massive corporate machien in the 90's. It's always been this way if you';d just care to remove the rose tinted specs and look.

YEs and two big examples were Sanatra and Elvis who didnt write a song between them. Btw Westlife wrote half of their 3rd album which is in my opinion their best.

Good, glad to hear it. I still stick by my opinion though.

I was gonna mention Elvis in my previous post but decided not. Yeah a lot of his hits were provided by Chet Atkins (think that's how it's spelt), and I think I have more repect for him than the King himself. At least Elvis would play rhythm guitar on some of his tracks, which is better than Sanatra I suppose, who just sang. :P
