The beautiful irony is that originally Britney's selling point was that she was a sweet, little virgin who was a great role model to little girls

I have you down as someone who was a troublemaker even in your mother's womb, I know you kicked her for nothing more than amusement. You sadistic cow.

Hmmm... I have been on a jury. But please elaborate your post. It makes absolutely no sense.

And your 'superior' taste does not give you a moral high ground from which to fire shots at someone way more talented than you will likely ever be.
You obviously didn't read through all the posts before replying.

Jade suggested that "we should all like Britney because she's been through a lot." There is nothing wrong with saying "I feel sorry for her and for what she's been through, but her music is still crap and I will never, ever listen to it." I still believe she cracked and wanted attention. Lets not lie here, her career has been suffering.

I don't like her because I prefer music with some substance to it, but that doesn't place me on a "high-horse", like you seem to think. Anything you listen to will never place you a class higher than anyone else. The music I like is better than Britney Spears, which would probably explain why I don't own her records. I have friends who like her and last I checked, I didn't think anything less of any of them for that.

No one said her music DOESN'T make people happy but that doesn't change the fact that some of us here don't like it. We don't understand why people still like her but hey, her fans probably don't understand why we like Bon Jovi or some other bands that were around before some of us were even born.

And also, I doubt Britney is more "talented" than any of us on this board but I'll leave that alone since our definition of "talent" seems to vary drastically. I know for a fact that there are some guitar and piano players on this board, myself included, and last I checked, Britney can't play... anything!! She can't write, she can't sing and she has no knowledge of music so, what talent does she have?

Also, to add to the other part of the discussion on "role-models"...

A parent that lets an entertainer (male of female) be a role model for their young kid is one pretty shitty parent.

It's irrelevant though, I doubt any young girls that listen to Britney Spears pay attention to what's in the tabloids.

Jade simply thinks that any decent human would feel at least a little sympathy for someone that went through what she did. I never said people should like her and her music. I really couldn't care either way. But anyone that feels NO sympathy for another human who was clearly going through a lot is, in my mind, not a very nice person.

With this whole attention thing - don't you think that if someone did all what Britters for the attention, that there is something wrong with them to crave attention that badly? Don't you think they are crying out for help? Like I've said, I think she did certain things for attention because she was/is ill.Not all of it though, and not in an attention seeking my career is going down the drain so I will act crazy and risk losing everything I have to see if that will help kinda way. There has to be something wrong to need attention that badly.

As for talent, she's a pretty damn good dancer. I know what I'm talkign about there. And she's a good entertainer for a certain crowd. It may not be your cup of tea for entertainment but it's entertainment nonetheless.

I know I'm sounding like a Britney groupie but I've just got to give someone credit where it's due.

I just hope you employed a higher standard of proof than mere guilt-by-association.

Just the fact that you find it worth commenting on music you don't like is the issue. Why not live and let live?

"With the right stroke of luck (and a nice pair of tits) any one of us could be a bigger star than Britney". Hmmmmmm.

Why? Aren't kids entitled to form their own opinion?
