Is it just me or does "Walk With Me" sound awfully similar to "Whole Lot of Leavin'"?

It;s just you, I think. I Don't see the comparison at all...

https://youtu.be/nBcw_rqwmAQ And to think this concert was considered as "just ok" back then, and some of us even thought Jon didn't sound very good... how times have changed! By today's standards, this show is - to quote Seb - the f***ing bollocks. The setlist, albeit quite short, is absolutely fantastic and the guys are clearly enjoying themselves. I mean, what would you think about this set in 2017? I'd literally give my nuts - yes, both of them - for this kind of a show these days: 1. Happy Now 2. Bad Name 3. Blood On Blood 4. Born To Follow 5. Lost Highway 6. Whole Lot Of Leavin' 7. It's My Life 8. The More Things Change 9. Raise Your Hands 10. Captain Crash 11. Bad Medicine/Hot Legs/Shout (teaser) 12. Bed Of Roses 13. I'll Be There For You 14. Who Says (missing in the video above - yippee!) 15. Sleep 16. Garageland 17. Have A Nice Day 18. Keep The Faith Encore: 19. Wild Is The Wind 20. Never Say Goodbye 21. Wanted 22. Prayer But still... I think something was missing in 2008-11 already. I mean, just take a quick look at this show (San Jose '03): https://youtu.be/Xon-ppkq4HA Setlist: 1. Bounce 2. Bad Name 3. Wild In The Streets 4. Prayer 5. Everyday 6. Undivided 7. Runaway 8. Older 9. Wanted 10. The Distance 11. It's My Life 12. Misunderstood 13. Right Side Of Wrong 14. I'll Be There For You (Richie) 15. Blaze 16. Keep The Faith 17. Born To Be My Baby 18. Sleep 19. Raise Your Hands Encore: 20. Saturday Night 21. Bad Medicine/Shout And here's the Toronto gig - probably the best North American show of the tour, at least setlist-wise. Yes, I know Minneapolis got Something To Believe In and Alpine Valley was blessed (cursed?) with the worst version of These Days ever performed by anyone, but still... crank it up and enjoy the ride: https://youtu.be/v_VgiBBSea0 1. Bounce 2. Bad Name 3. Wild In The Streets 4. Prayer 5. Everyday 6. Undivided 7. Runaway 8. Older 9. DAMNED/IF LOVIN' YOU IS WRONG!!!!! 10. Wanted 11. The Distance 12. It's My Life 13. Misunderstood 14. Joey 15. I'll Be There For You (Richie) 16. Hook Me Up 17. Raise Your Hands 18. Saturday Night 19. Sleep 20. Born To Be My Baby Encore: 21. Heroes 22. Keep The Faith 23. Bad Medicine/Shout Encore 2: 24. Rock 'n' Roll Music 25. Twist & Shout And, to close our Bounce tour special, here's our friend Dominik aka bonjovi90's first BJ concert - Munich '03: https://youtu.be/cIHeBUnF4Uw The sound is a bit flat and "hollow" at times, but you'll get used to it quickly. The whole show is probably one of the band's best since 1996, and Jon's voice reached its Bounce tour peak there. Also, what an in-f***ing-credible setlist! 1. Bounce 2. Bad Name 3. Wild In The Streets 4. Prayer 5. Everyday 6. LYHOM 7. Keep The Faith 8. Wanted 9. In These Arms 10. It's My Life 11. Bed Of Roses 12. The Distance 13. Runaway 14. Diamond Ring 15. Heroes 16. Saturday Night 17. Older 18. I'll Be There For You (Richie) 19. SOMETHING TO F***ING BELIEVE IN!!!!!!!!!! 20. Undivided 21. Born To Be My Baby 22. Sleep/Rockin' All Over The World 23. Raise Your Hands Encore: 24. Misunderstood 25. Captain Crash 26. Bad Medicine/Shout Encore 2: 27. THESE F***ING DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 28. Twist & Shout The point that I'm trying to make is that during the Crush, Bounce and HAND tours the guys were constantly playing with much, much, MUCH more energy and intensity than on the LH/TC/GH tours. Yes, Jon's voice was - at least in terms of consistency - a lot better in 2008-11 than it had ever been since the end of the European leg of the OWN tour, but the rest of the guys were never again able to fully reproduce the insane energy they used to maintain throughout the first three tours of the 21st century. |

Jon is finished vocally. Richie is a directionless mess. That's the parody for me. From God-like status to this is something very sad to behold. Anyone still enjoying it, fair enough. That's entirely your right. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Here's Prayer from last night's NJ show:
https://youtu.be/hEvHMDJNMIg Finally, FINALLY he manages to sing the verses (at least mostly) in key... and that's not a huge accomplishment, as they're extremely easy. The "baby, it's okay" (or, as Jon sings it here, "it's HOOKEEEYYYEEE") still sounds god-awful, though. PS. And yes, the "livin' on a prayer" part before the solo is still the MetLife backing track :( hey, Jonny - remember what you used to sing on Last Man Standing? "No, this boy - he don't lip synch...". Sad, really. |

and prayer had a backtrack before last man was even written

It's such a cop out when people act like the backing track for that song is a recent thing.
There's lipsynching because you have no vocal talent and there's lipsynching because you wrote the damn song too high. Remember in the mid 80's when Tico wore giant headphones to hear the backing track? "sad really" come on. I don't mean to be so finger pointy with this response but sometimes the things we piss on is over the top. |
