What the f***?

Had you REALLY forgotten about that kind of a once-in-a-lifetime experience?

Shame on you! :D

Jon absolutely nails the last chorus (especially the high note on "...and I wanna BE..."). However, he doesn't bother going for the "ooh, woah-oo-o-ooh, woah, yeah..." part at the end of the song, which - at least for me - implies that he didn't think his voice was up for it that night. Now that I think about it, he probably could have sung that part rather easily back then even with his voice being a bit shot (like it was through most of the gig), but for some reason just wasn't confident enough.

He actually nailed that part quite regularly on the 2010/11 tour. But I don't judge a performance by him reaching a hard note somewhere, the overall experience and feeling count and they weren't there for most of the night.
Mannheim felt like a much better performance, not even to think about Frankfurt three years earlier where he was into the song like hardly on any other post-2000 occassion.

Probably the best performance of I Believe but what is more impressive is that they performed it in the original key!

Honestly, I prefer the vocals from Lisbon 2011 or Sydney 2010 oddly. I might be crucified for that comment but

Yeah, Munich was easily one of the most boring Bon Jovi shows I've seen. They'd been bigging it up so much and then Jon showed up and went on autopilot/moody bastard mode pretty much the entire show and the band never hit its groove either. That show was about 3 hours long and yet I've seen standard 2 hour American shows that were better than the snoozefest that was Munich 2011.

But oh, that show in Frankfurt. Easily one of the best. Best rendition of These Days since 1996 I think. And Mannheim... The sound on the field was perfect and the band was clearly having a great time. I've never had a Bon Jovi song hitting me like a steamtrain like Hey God did back then.
Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Salaam Aleikum,

Man, you were lucky to be there! I only saw the Helsinki show and afterwards have been mourning over the fact that I don't live in Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal or even Norway instead of Finland (as far as the set lists of the tour went)...

Btw, here's one of my favorite post-2k performances on any song in concert - the acoustic version of These Days from London 2010:

https://youtu.be/nmSqcDvyFtE

Jon's vocals are amazing. And those harmonies, goddammit, those harmonies... what do you think about that one, Seb?

Actually, I don't remember you complaining about anything else but the set lists during the whole year '10 - not even about Jon's voice! :D Of course, I wasn't a Jovitalk member back then yet, but I've read all those concert threads (of pretty much every year/tour) through, and you were exceptionally positive on the Circle tour - as were most others, too. God, how I wish Jon had maintained those '08-'11 pipes of his... I mean, the guy could've sung pretty much any song in the BJ catalogue decently (at least) back then! Why he didn't even attempt My Guitar Lies Bleeding In My Arms at the O2 is beyond me - if he was able to nail Let It Rock and STBI the way he did, he probably wouldn't have struggled that much on MGLBIMA either.

While (again) mourning over the fact that Jon can't sing well anymore, let's try to forget about the sad reality by taking another trip down the memory lane and revisit the F***ING AMAZING version of Bed Of Roses from the second night of the O2 run:

https://youtu.be/7HVykpwP5N8

That last "...on a BEEEEED of naaaaails..." sounds heavenly. Where the hell did that guy disappear within the following three (!!!) years? I'm obviously aware of all the theories displayed on these boards, but I still can't help being confused while having read all the comments you guys have made about these things many times... damn, I miss the real Jon. I think we all do.

One of the best performances of MGLBIMA. Man, listen to those harmonies in the chorus, I miss hearing them these days(no pun intended).

Actually, in my opinion it's nowhere close to any of the best versions. This (for instance) is far superior:

Did you intend to post the link for BOR? I was talking about MGLBIMA.

bonjovi90 01-31-2018 11:35 PM

People tend to hype Yokohama because it's the only quality show available from the the These Days tour - yet it was one of their worst performances of 1996. The band pretty much had an off-night and Richie's guitar solo on My Guitar actually sounded quite horrendous for his 1996-standards.
