https://youtu.be/n_JsDZ3jAcQ WTF????? Tokyo Road performed in 1995??? Was Jon on weed or something? I know, it's a Japan show, but still... |
Here's the Atlantic City '06 show:
https://youtu.be/z_ttxAIix14 Holy shit, Jon sounded awesome on HAND! Definitely one of the best live versions of the song I've ever heard. Btw, Radio works surprisingly well as the third song of the set. |
The full Nashville '17 show:
https://youtu.be/Rx5wCsQEpDI Jon sounds really bad. REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY BAD. During the (low-pitched) verses of Roller Coaster he struggles mightily to control his tone and his voice cracks plenty of times. On Who Says his voice is so weak it's laughable. His voice cracks pretty audibly on the first chorus of Blood On Blood. He grips the mic stand during the choruses of Because We Can (!!!) and actually runs out of breath a couple of times - I MEAN, ON F***ING BWC!!!!! Wanted is vocally a joke - and a poor one at that. Prayer isn't any better. That must be the worst show I've ever heard from the band in terms of Jon's vocals. Christ, even Vegas '12, Tampere/Madrid/Brisbane '13 and Seoul '15 were better, and they were atrocious as well... As a whole, I so wish that the THINFS tour never happened. 34 shows in, we've gotten TEN shows that have honestly been good - and still, none of them have come anywhere close to the level of even the more mediocre shows of any previous tour (save maybe for the Japan + Australia legs in 2013). The good/"good" shows of the tour so far have been: * Phoenix * LA/Inglewood * St. Paul * Philadelphia * Toronto (both nights) * MSG (both nights) * Rio * Sao Paulo 10 out of 34. That makes 24 mediocre/poor/f***ing horrible gigs. Compare this to the 2011 European tour, where out of all the 23 shows, 19 were good (at least), one was mediocre (Horsens, but that was only due to the uninteresting set list, which was a result of Jon's knee injury), two were quite poor (Munich and Zurich - the first because of Jon's largely below-par vocals and the second because of the horrendous set list) and one was very poor (Dusseldorf, where pretty much everything went more or less wrong). Anybody notice the difference? https://youtu.be/ci9doTyxqlI I certainly do, and I can't help feeling sad about it. I know it's not Jon's fault, but still... |
Jon is a shadow of the performer he once was. His voice is mostly embarrassing now, his stage presence all but gone. It’s actually sad to see and worse to hear. I cringe at the thought of him performing certain songs.
But I’m still a fan. Weird. Maybe it’s like supporting a football team that more often than not loses. You hope for the best but accept those moments are few and far between. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

https://youtu.be/VNtLjw1DKsM Ladies and gentlemen, that was probably the last time Jon actually SANG a song live. As sad as it is to admit, that noise coming out of his mouth during the songs nowadays can't be called singing (with few-and-far-between exceptions happening every now and then, such as BOR and LYHOM in Rio '17). I'd love to know what Seb thinks about that Nashville show... :D |
