Hey All!

I can't access my old profile, didn't know if a moderator could help me with that?!? I had to register a new username... Hope everyone is well. I know it's been awhile. Last night was.... well... interesting.

I was one of the fortunate few who got to see Richie perform one of his last shows 4 years ago right here in OKC. So this was a very different experience altogether.

The good... Stage setup was cool and the wristband for the audio files is pretty awesome. You can view it up close on my Twitter @RyanBounce04. I complained early about the crowd being thin, but 2 songs into the set, it was full. Props to Phil X. A lot of good vibes and energy. Very professional. The moment Jon screwed up Bad Medicine and started signing he 2nd verse instead of the first was fantastic and I caught it unlike 99% of people around me so it made it that much better. The amount of young people was encouraging as well! So many new young fans just goes to show what kind of staying power the guys have. Finally, the experience having free WIFI provided by the band, and the ability to use the APP during the show.

The bad... set list. A. No diversity. And I know it's because of the other new band members lack of knowledge in regards to the catalogue as well as the deterioration of Jons voice. It's a bummer it has to be that way. I'd also say that Jon just looked tired about 10 songs into the set. He really struggled towards the end of the show to hit notes and it's pretty obvious why the set list was that much shorter. New songs in the middle of the show really just turned people off. It was such a lull and it wasn't until the end of Devil that Jon had said that it's nothing but hits from now on, which drove everyone around me to their feet. My final complaint is the contrary to what I said about Phil X above... I can't stand that Richie isn't there anymore and Jon mentioned him numerous times. He misses him for sure. We all do. It's not Bon Jovi without the King of Swing. It never will be in my opinion.

Thanks to those that followed and thanks to those that posted my live tweets for you all! Now can someone help me get a new password for my old account?!? LOL

Ryan

The whole first show in Greenville, it was like Jon hadn't gotten over losing his puppy. Having heard all the shows so far, he's still in the grieving process it seems.

No problem. Hope things are good in NJ.

I can't apprehend how you guys just can't take in the fact that a close friend is like your family, your mother, your wife, and actually losing that person most probably have scarred you for life. I grieve people who were significant ones for me for a few years but 30+ years? Come on, it's like a divorce. You can't just get over it in a moment and all you can do is plaster a fake smile and pretend it's OK, time to move on. Well, the guys moved on but it's just the facade. The machine is rolling on and the emotions are pouring over like the tears that have never really dried up. I don't want to feel soppy, I just know real things in life are indifferent to time and space and they are either there or not. I feel for Jon, I really do. I'm sure Richie is dealing with it on his own way. We're just the spectators and we can only make wishful thinking or throw tantrums like little kids. Time will tell.

I'm back. It was fun, but bitter sweet. Jon is every bit the frontman he was 10-17 years ago. I didn't really notice any autopilot. He was "there" and he kept the crowd entertained. He seemed happy to be here and grateful we bought tickets.

As you've seen, the set wasn't great. Work was out and WWBTF is back... which I was good with. With the state Jon's vocals were in tonight, I'm not sure if I would have wanted to hear BOB or Saturday Night.

His storyteller section with the new songs (Mess, Scars, Devil) went over really well, mainly because of his communication with the crowd. He was chatty. Out of the 3, Scars went over best (cell phones lights everywhere) and Devil was the low point out of the 3, but IMO it was pretty damn good. He made the same comment after, "From now on, hits and nothing but the hits for the rest of the night"

The two songs I was most excited to see were Rollercoaster and We Don't Run. We Don't Run ended up being my favorite song of the night... it was almost worth the price of the ticket. Speaking of WDR... I hadn't heard any more about Jon's political comments a week or two ago but I think I might have figured it out... towards the beginning of WDR the graphics show "Great Again! Great Again! ...Nothing lasts forever" I don't know... but that may have been it. Again, it was great.

Yes, he stopped the band during the first verse of bad medicine. He said he started singing the 2nd verse... And yes, he blamed it on a "senior moment". They started the song over. Toward the end of the song, he said something like, "I'm going to get a kiss" and he climbed off stage, walked along the front row - I didn't see it but the crowd got louder for a moment.

Oh yeah, there are no screens this tour. They have a great light show and some sort of fabric (that graphics are projected on) that falls for a few songs (WDR to Guitar), but that's it. First BJ show I've seen without screens.

The Lost Highway and WLOL combo was the low point for the crowd, I'd say. Vocally, WSYCGH, BM, BTBMB, and HAND were pretty bad... okay really bad. His vocal mix was pretty low and the band covered for him as much as they could. He looked like he was in so much pain. You can tell he's trying. I believe he gave it 100% but his voice is gone.

My kids had fun. They got tired around SWID (bed time), but would bounce back for the songs they liked. They did really well for a 4 and 6 year old.

Next stop Dallas... here's hoping Ghost will get its tour debut.

Thanks for the detailed review. I'm headed to Vegas on Saturday. Hoping for the best. I was already looking forward to We Don't Run, and you've confirmed my anticipation!

Have fun! I saw them in Vegas in 2011 and I remember the crowd being LOUD! I think we got Dry County that night. I hope it's a great show for you. I'm looking forward to hearing about it

@TheRealPhilX hey Phil. Any reason always, blood on blood and Saturday have been dropped from the set?

@HackStuart not "dropped". Jon likes switching things up as he's fully aware that a lot of fans attend multiple shows.

Interesting that it is thought that the set has been changed to accommodate repeat customers.

How come they are playing the same set every night then ? I really don't understand.

What do you expect Phil to say?
That he hates the set and doesn't know what the hell Jon is doing? He's on his paylist ;)

Phil is doing what a lot of fans aren't that is carpe diem. He's here and now and it's a crazy experience!
