i dont get the meaning behind all these...richie made a mistake in hand playing in the wrong neck of a doubleneck guitar...so ****ing what??? everyone make mistakes, steve vai, petrucci and malmsteen make mistakes, judjing by studio recordings and dvds give you a false flawless picture, richie maybe made a mistake here and there but in no case is he a sloppy player...

We could find a replacement for Jon too, the guy does not sing shit, and when he sings a rarity is so lazy they do not even learn the words and uses a leaf stuck to the ground.

I've seen more oversights of guitarists as Richie, he rarely wrong in the solo of HAND. Hell, Bobby is much worse than Sambora. They tourning too long and Richie was burned, but the solution is not to forget about it for the new guy. Jon has done too many tours in the past decade, and eventually fallen to Richie, that's undeniable, I appreciate the 4 last album of the band, but these endless tours has been poorly organized, with little time between new album/tour. Look at other bands / artists, they make a break of several years to recharge enough energy for a new album / tour.

Richie has had brilliant moments and bad moments, like Jon. However, on this tour, there are not really bad moments, but there is a great shortage of brilliant moments, both of Phil as Jon. The highlight of the show is when they play covers, but this is not the king of suburbia, this is Bon Jovi, dammit.


Before, it felt more Bon Jovi, now feels different, strange, and I can not adjust. I want that drunk/drug addict to death. I love that spoiled bastard. and nothing and nobody can replace me that feeling.

Yeah, this kind of shit started to happen since HAND Tour. When Phil X got 30+ years of uninterruptedly touring and god only knows how many albums sold to millions of ppl, then we talk again.

That doesn't make it acceptable for Richie to do it, though.

Say what you will about the quality of the shows, Richie's absence, etc., but it's hard to deny that, for what he's here for, Phil is doing a damn fine job filling in.

FFS lay off Phil. I am a massive Richie fan but truthfully, is he there?? No!! Did he quit the tour and let us all down?? Yes!! Did Phil step in to help out?? Yes! And he managed his own life round it cancelling his own band gigs, went through the birth of his son etc and dont give me the crap about 'he gets paid well enough for it'.........he may well do but so did Richie!!! Phil is standing in for another guy who has let everyone down. He is playing really good and is enjoying himself up there!!

I know English is not your first language, and I am not making fun of you, but when I read the above, I got an image of Jon in the middle of a forest reading lyrics off a maple leaf that had fallen to the ground. :)

I think this paragraph is one of my favorite comments in this thread, and that's a lot of words. Wish I had thought of it, may have to borrow "love that spoiled bastard..." :)

Some random thoughts that I thought I would spill onto the page because - hey - there's 1,200 pages of random thoughts …

There comes a point in everyone's life when they must take an honest look at their heroes. RS was one of mine because his playing, vocal harmonizing and songwriting have dramtically affected my life and my livelihood (I am a music worship leader at a Christian church and we play and write - more or less - a rock & roll style of music). RS basically taught me how to play guitar and how to find a vocal harmony and that has had a huge impact on my life, but the more I listen to him in interviews and really pay attention, I realize he's chasing a vapid life that will ultimately turn on him. He's the "old guy in the club." So, I feel sad for him because he was one of my heroes and it's kinda painful to see him this way (in addition to his addiction problems).

I am really disappointed in his actions over the past several years but I realize he's a mere human being and a human being will nearly always let you down in some way or another (just like I'll let down the people in my life at some point).

I realized the other day that while I still enjoy Bon Jovi's music, and always probably will, I'm following this RS drama like I would a TV show (for the drama of it all). I hope against hope that one day the band can return to the passion of the mid-90s but that's not going to happen because it's not the mid-90s anymore and times and people change. JBJ isn't the JBJ of my Yokohama bootleg circa 1996 effortlessly hitting the high notes in Prayer. RS isn't the Sambora of the 1995 European MTV Awards absolutely killing Hey God. And on and on … maybe it's best to let my memories be what they are (and still enjoy them) but stop expecting this band to fill the role they once did in my life and just enjoy what they put out and discard what I don't enjoy.

Finally, more power to Phil X. He's a solid player and he seems to be having an absolute blast. I feel happy for him that he gets to experience this level of touring at least once (something every musician dreams of) … whether it be temporary for him or not, he seems to be soaking it up and making the most of it, so, good for him. I keep hoping (against all logical thought) that his enthusiasm and good use of social media with the fans will rub off on the others, but that's not going to happen either.

It's mad because I always had Jon down as the one trying to stay relevant but over the past year or even less, it's actually Richie who is worse.
