its obviously time for a good break, maybe they d all appreciate what they have, richie handled the situation poorly, the other guys will probably be mad with him cause he always brings his daughter up etc etc like all the other guys dont have families as well...
time is a healer, they should all sit down and talk and jon should face his own mistakes because in a way he became doc mcghee the man he blamed for almost killing the band with the relentless touring album/promo cycles...jon should realise the are no longer a band, he may always be the leader but rock music is about chemistry and exchanging ideas, not chasing your last big hit with poor manufactured songs...
ps.jon said in an interview he isnt interested into making the best record because it would be hard to match live..and their experience with loap and all the high notes make them play it safe, they should enter the studio trying to make one last great album, not just an excuse to tour again

SO much agree...100%

Jon's upper and lower chompers don't match. :p

Make-up can make an absolute "triple-bagger" look like a beauty queen.....

Personally Miley does nothing for me when she is in hooker mode.
Unfortunately he's being very badly advised by music industry men in their mid-40s/50s

The rest of the band is fulfilling their contract and Richie is out having fun with fabrics and supporting pop culture. No thanks.

OK, so it's obviously a trigger for me when people make fun of others.

I don't, however, recall seeing such comments from you and wouldn't have included you in that group. I'm sorry if anything I posted caused you to feel that you were. I wasn't referring to fans who are upset or feel let down and comment about that. That's understandable and you're certainly entitled to your feelings.

My reference was to those who rarely miss an opportunity to take potshots at Richie for any reason whatsoever whether it's related to the tour or not. It can be the women he's associated with or the way his hair looks, grammatical errors, typos, the music he supports - just anything around which a snide comment can be built and a chuckle gained. And it's not a one-time just-couldn't-resist contribution to the hilarity. These are 'frequent flyers' that I remarked Lost on a Highway was wasting his time with.

Even if fans are understandably upset, does it justify turning the man into an object of ridicule? Not in my book... not in this chapter, nor the next.

The man has given zero respect to any fan out there, why should he earn anything back?

If anything, all he does is tarnish is hown reputation and pretty much ruin the godlike status he had on more than just a few Bon Jovi fans out there. 10 years ago even the biggest Bon Jovi hater would declare Richie the only good thing about Bon Jovi, whereas nowadays all people can think is that it's that drunk guitarist of that band that used to be pretty good.

Not once has he genuinely said that he's sorry. Not once. All we've received are soundbites of "Yeah I feel bad for the fans" which came across as forced. The man obviously has something to hide, and with every new performance and interview it's starting to become more clear what that something really is.

So yeah, he deserves to be ridiculed. He took the piss out of every fans' loyalty and respect for him. And what little I had at the start of this drama in 2011 when he first checked himself in I lost now, and actually gained for Jon, and that's despite all the crap performances of our beloved lead singer.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Actually, somewhere in cyberspace is a picture of Jon and Miley Cyrus, tongue out, all hugged up. My friends and I were amused by that picture also. :D

Not that I understand why Jon/Phil X bashing would justify Richie bashing - or vice versa... but hey, if that's what floats your boat, go for it.

It's not my preferred brand of humor (obviously ) but I probably shouldn't take such offense when others indulge. My bad.

Sheesh, I really need to get a life!

Sums it all up for me too, to be fair. He's mugged people off that bought tickets before the tour started. I can guarantee that if be announced before the tour that he was to be no part of it then you could forgive it.

I bought Golden Circle tickets at Villa Park to see Bon Jovi. With Richie. Before the tour started. I know the option for a refund was there, but the mugged off desperate fans like myself thought "It wont be that bad. Phil X is cool." It was marginally better than Manchester 2011, but thats now 2 in a row that have left me massively underwhelmed.

So that is it for me. Game over.

Well, I guess that's just where you and I will have to agree to disagree, Seb. IMO, making fun of people is a vicious, cruel past-time; and I can't imagine a scenario in which I would think ridicule is EVER deserved. By anyone.

But that's just my opinion. You are equally entitled to yours.

I really am sorry you've been so disappointed. It's tough when idols turn out to have feet of clay - for whatever reason - even if, as you implied, we don't yet know the whole story. And if it makes you feel better to show disrespect to Richie in turn for what you see as his disrespect for the fans, then I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

Whatever gets you through the night...

The thing is Richie just handled all this so badly. He did the one thing I don't think anyone thought he would ever do, he left Jon and the band standing on a stage with their hats in their hands, he hung them out to dry in Calgary. Richie did that and that isn't the Richie that any Bon Jovi fan knew of or about. And then for seven months he wouldn't say why, and when he finally did say something, it was some lame, politically correct, makes me look better excuse, instead of just admitting there was a problem.
