You sound a bit uninformed here. Dave's drumming in Nirvana wasn't even that exceptional. It was his breath taking drumming on Queens Of The Stone Age's classic album Songs For The Deaf (and live shows - ) various others stints in acts i.e Tenacious D, Them Crooked Vultures that made people sit up and realise just how good he is. He's not over rated, if anything he's underrated. The man has brutal power but still has finesse and great time. Taylor Hawkins is a hero of mine too. I'd say Dave wins in power but Taylor is probably a bit more versatile.

I probably am. Never been that much into QOTSA, but yes, he did awesome on the D's work and even in nirvana it was still powerful. It just gets to me that I keep hearing about how great of a drummer Dave is, and Taylor has never gotten his dues IMO. The guy deserves more praise, also like someone else said here, his voice is pretty great too!!
