For those who demanded an apology

Richie has publicly apologized to the fans. Can we be happy now?

"I admit it was a bit selfish (to quit the tour) and it wasn't a popular decision, I know, and I apologise to the fans. My daughter needed me and I needed her.

So that article is pretty clear now, he is out of Bon Jovi. He doesn't want to do another cycle.

Cheerio Richie! Good riddance.

Apology really not accepted. I'm sure Jon, David, Tico, and the rest of the crew needed their families, too and their families needed them. However, they all continued on the tour.

If family reasons is the truth, then so be it. I wouldn't give a crap who I disappointed, if my family needed me, I'd be there. Richie is also talking about the whole writing and recording process as well taking him away from home, not just the touring side.

The timing of these more detailed interviews from Richie suggests that he was contractually unable to say more while Bon Jovi was on tour and that he may have been discouraged from or unable to perform solo at certain venues until his Bon Jovi touring contact was up.

Purely speculation on my part. I wish him well, but the whole situation is sad.

I never thought that I would agree with you on this subject but there it is. I am not one who thinks he sounds great in the recent youtube videos available. personally I think he could use some discipline in the form of voice lessons and guitar practice.

And yes - anyone here can bitch about Jon's voice and how he needs a voice coach. I have said the same myself. But - did Jon fulfill his contract? You bet he did - and the replacement guitarist isn't bad either.

Another article I don´t think has been posted. Doesn´t sound like he´s out of the band (yet).

Quote:

“I said very openly it should have been a bit longer [between tours],” he said. “We had just had two massive tours back to back.
“I needed a little more time home to be with the family, but the guys wanted to go, so that’s cool. I don’t think it’s the end of the organisation or the end of the band at any point. People grow at different speeds and they have different desires.
“But I have no malice whatsoever. And I think at some point we’ll make some more records and go out and tour again, but it’s time for a break, man.”

Yes, I know that. I'm just disappointed in how he did it. Let Jon know before the day the tour is starting again & give him a reasonable amount of time to find a replacement. IF it was really because of Ava, he sure has been gone a lot doing his own thing while the band is on tour. I respect everyone's opinions on this, but I just think he was not very responsible handling the situation. It makes me think there are other issues that he and Jon are not going to talk about.
