Augh, just formally quit already. This sucks.

Meh, when I was archiving the radio interviews done in 1996 I remember a British DJ asking the band if they still enjoyed playing stuff like Runaway, and there was this deafening silence which really said it all, so it's nothing new here.

The only difference is that in 1996 it was just the few fans hearing the band talk on the radio, where as now it goes global and a guy from Canada hears about an interview done in Australia.

It still boils down to the same old thing though; why play all the classics when you could mix it up and play 5 this tour, and then another 5 another tour? It's the lack of creativity on all levels that has eventually burned out the entire band on being Bon Jovi.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Jon and Richie hate the first two albums. This is nothing new. I like Runaway and others like Tokyo Road.

Do you have any songs you wrote that you are sick of hearing and don't want to play any more?

So much for his memory which songs were originally his. Guy wasn't even in the band when that one was recorded, let alone written. (Which is probably why he's not too attached to it, but even more so, what an appaling way to word it then.)

He never said Runaway was his. He was asked which Bon Jovi songs he doesn't want to play ever again. He answered. The good news for him is that it's not very likely he'll ever have to play that song again.

lol... without Runaway there might not ever have been a Bon Jovi, in which case neither Richie nor Jon would be able to go on and on about how many hit records they have. He's welcome to dislike the song, I just think it's a funny/interesting example to use.

Except he was not.

It's hardly surprising that he hates that song. This isn't the first time he said he didn't like the early stuff which also includes the songs he wrote. So really, why does it matter? It's not news.

Alphavictim 03-15-2014 04:23 PM

It's not surprising. But he has now progressed to talk about any Bon Jovi song when he's asked about stuff he (co)wrote. The whole "I wrote the songs in Bon Jovi"-schtick seems to have to his head if he can't even make the distinction for effing Runaway.

I think he only used Runaway as an example, because it's the best known song from the early period he hates and it's the song most fans still want to hear.

PS: I have more gray hair than Jon and I'm 38.

I agree, Becky. I think Jon looks great. Yes, he's aged as we all have, but he wears it well. There's a lot to be said for aging gracefully. Frankly, I think Richie looks good, too. The style suits what he's doing these days.

At any rate, they both look a helluva lot better than I do, so I'm not complaining. (And for the record, I was almost completely gray at 25. I had a "skunk streak" when I was 12.:))
