Meh, it is a Christmas song and this sort of thing is what Jon has become, so it is what it is. A Richie cameo at the end would have saved it, of course. :mrgreen:

It's low budget...but it's also a Christmas video and not the first single. However their prior Christmas songs have been quality so I can't accept it as an excuse but I can be forgiving.

I felt like it was filmed with an IPhone and a bunch of local non-actors. The hair and makeup looked terrible. Jon looked even older than he usually does, everyone else in the video looked like they came out of a tanning salon in the middle of December.

You can totally tell there were 3 cuts... Jon, The Band, and The Actors. None of it looks like it was actually filmed together.

So I guess The Story Of Love is the new "Jon Benchmark" for critique... Jon's melancholy story telling vibe is the new thing. Maybe it's always been there. We Ain't Strangers Anymore just popped into my head.

I'll jump on the bandwagon and agree that Tico is the coolest part of the video

Overall - Great to see a song out and the band together again after 40 years.

Off Topic: Rollover Coaster defaulted to the next auto-play video and Jon looks like he's 25 years old in comparison.

Video seems like it was probably done in an afternoon and they edited together what they could. Videos no longer have budgets like 10 or 15 years ago so it's not just Bon Jovi, most videos from bands of their era look a lot worse. Tico is always awesome!! John Shanks looks like Steven Seagal! JBJ walking over to the band and having a drink with them would have made it a bit better but it is what it is.....

How cool would it have been to have Richie walk up in the snow outside the bar and get a shot of him looking in at the others smiling as the music fades out. It would have been a great teaser for 2024. Alas....I'm thankful for what we got. According to Billy Falcon, one of the new singles is one of his favorite things he's ever written with Bon Jovi, period! He said it's on the same quality lyrically as songs like Just Older and Amen. And he also said it was something really different, youthful, and fresh. I believe Billy Falcon even got to have some backup vocals featured on it. Jon was very happy with it and thinks it'll be a hit song. We shall see. I really gravitate and relate more to the songs cowritten with Billy Falcon. I think there is supposed to be some sort of wedding related song as well. Jon even got emotional enough to cry after recording one of the songs! I can't wait for the new album in 2024, the documentary, and hopefully even a boxset to help celebrate the 40th Year Anniversary of Bon Jovi!

The days of BJ having a hit single are long gone.
The video is OK. Song is OK.
You can tell Jon werent even in the same room as the band.

Exactly. But a good editor will make it more transparent. This was so poorly done.

How come? I could name 20 Bon Jovi videos where Jon is clearly with the band. I could name a thousand other band videos where the group is together.

And they all took a picture in the front of the bar so they were definitely all together

Jon's parts probably took 4 times longer to film so he most likely had the guys show up at a different time just to make it seem like it's a band song and not a JBJ solo effort.
