Pretty good! He mumbled some lyrics and the solo wasn't great, but he was really into it and from what I've seen, definitely one the best performances of the 2014 tour.

What is he mumbling about New Jersey and the same shit he's/they are (?) going through? Almost can't understand a word he says :-(

He says:

I'm not from Chi-car-gow. But I am from a town much like Dublin, in a country (county?), that's called New Jersey. We're all goin' through the same shit, man. Let's face it. So here is the title track from my first solo album - it's called Stranger in this Town.

No reference to the album. ;)

Thanks! I didn't think about the album, I thought he was maybe referring to the same kind of shit they (the band) went through after the New Jersey album/tour cycle, but then I was wrong, I guess ;-)

Ah, I thought it was related to the fact he wasn't promoting the New Jersey re-release, hence the album comment.

Great version of the song, although I felt he probably played it a tad too slow at each gig on the tour that I've seen videos of. It certainly felt a bit slow in Glasgow.

Jon with beard? is a fad?

Alphavictim 07-16-2014 03:09 PM

He's not on tour right now, so I'd say it's his private life. If he wants to rock the Don Jonson look, why not.

I know most fans won't agree with me and definitely most female fans but, I think Jon looks kick ass as the old, grey haired scruffy bearded bastard look he's had going on now! I hope he releases a more low key, softer solo album and keeps that look for it, it's gonna turn some heads lol.....

I imagine he feels like he already did the same thing in the late 90s. Think about it, what was his image up until 1995 (looks (pretty boy, big hair), music (big anthems, power ballads)), what he did with DA both visually and musically it really was the same thing. It doesn't seem like this now, because Jon of that era was still much younger than 2014, but considering how the whole project did commercially in US (and that's the market he pays most attention to), I don't expect him to make another experiment like this. I think he's just letting himself go, because he doesn't care how he looks while on hiatus, but I would be shocked if he went with this image as a career turn and reflect the new image on a new album.
