Lack of rehearsals and current substance use and the effects of the former use could all well be part of the problem with something else we don't know about. People with history of abuse often have some better days and then some of them are worse. Perhaps he was drunk on some interviews yet, still sometimes slurrs when he is not?

I agree with whoever made the point that the main problem for the past years has been Richie not being committed enough. This has lead to unrehearsed tours and what looks like coming to a 10 year vacation with some touring with a(n ex-)girl friend soon and hell of a lot of talking about making new music, soon.

But. The record is on its way.

I think the main reason is that they were together for non-musical reasons. I also think that they wanted to imagine and hope against hope really really bad that those musical reasons would turn up later. They couldn't find any in their mismatched voices, so they turned to guitars. I think that the interviews where they talk about chemistry really high light their need to believe it was there. Obviously it wasn't. I don't think it would have been there even if Richie had given Ori more room.

For all his troubles, Richie has never had problems impressing the ladies.. So I think it was more about hanging onto something that never was there, than trying to impress her - and pretending there was some awesome chemistry in those awkward moments when they talked to each other through guitars. Damn, writing it down now feels even more ridiculous than it was back when they talked about it.

Anyway, too bad. What a waste of guitar players in the whole project. But the new record is coming and hopefully we can finally put the RSO fiasco to the rest for good.

I was hoping for some "Live from home" from Richie but no luck.

Happy B'day Richie! We keep waiting for the new album/single/update from him!
Covering one of his soulful solos is the best I could do on his b'day.

According to Dee Snider, Richie sold his publishing:

What they do is that they give you the money based on future earnings. And you negotiate - five years, ten years, fifteen years...

"So you go, 'OK, they give me 15 years' average. I'll be 80 at that point.' And in America, if you get that money as royalties every year, they take 50%. If you get that money as what they call 'capital gain,' they only take 20%.

"So, you say 'OK, you're gonna give me 15 years, and I pay 20% instead of 50%...' You do the math, and you say, 'This is smart for me now.' Somebody from Bon Jovi... [guitarist] Richie Sambora also did it. It's a business move."

Wasn't this widely covered here a few months ago already?
