I recently saw some new Richie interviews for example the Normans Guitar (if thats the name?) interview a few months ago 2018.
He plays pretty good compared to HoF performance.
If Bon Jovi tours, shows, etc were less (Sounds selfish haha but don't want them to tour less) and if Richie was allowed to contribute more and sing maybe 2 - 3 songs of his own during concerts then he maybe would have stayed.
As someone said please don't start a Richie topic anyways..

I think the setlists are quite good for the casual concert-goer honestly. I don't really like it though. Wish they had some rarer songs like maybe Just Older or Living in Sin.
LH should be kept but not WLOL (Rarely if ever) in my opinion.
Or maybe a rotation between them.

Remove that damn "It's alright" and acoustic start (Voice) from WSYCGH.

Well, diehards aren't that relevant, since they are by far outnumbered by casuals. And casuals want to hear the hits, and putting them (mostly) at the end of the set makes everyone leave on a high, especially with Prayer ending the show. Simple as that.

Yes, I said the same already on my post. What I meant was that there are tons of huge bands and artists that have also great amount of hits and records but still are serving much more interesting setlists year after year, tour after tour. Let's say for example Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighter, Red Hot Chili Pepper, Metallica and so on... sure they might start a show always with the same song and have the biggest hits in encore, but that's it. They are not playing all their "new" stuff at the beginning and all the old stuff and hits at the end. That is just a poor way of building a setlist. I've seen Bon Jovi live in BWC, Circle and LH tour, and the setlists have been getting more boring tour by tour. And I'm not just talking about the song choices. I know that there is an idea behind the setlists but for me that idea is just simply bad.

I've been checking the stats for the 2015 and the 2017/2018 tours (as both had new members in the band so it makes sense to compare them instead of BWC vs THINFS as a whole):

In 2015 they had:
50% post 2000 songs
25% from the 80s
15% from the 90s

In the THINFS tour so far:
60% post 2000
23% 80s
17% 90s

That's the worrying pattern, the 80s songs need to be there as that's where the big hits are, but they keep playing less and less of those, so argument no.1 (they have to play the hits! almost all the audience are casuals!) is getting weaker and weaker with every show. Then we have the 90s which have a good balance of monster hits and pretty well know songs for casuals that diehards love, and it's kept to a minimum.

We are left with a whole bunch of post2000 songs, which are mostly not very well know to casuals and hated by diehards. They are playing more songs of the new album now compared to then, but they've kept the shitty post2000 songs so that's why setlists are so poor (instead of increasing real hits/including quality songs to make up for more new songs, they pile all the shitty songs together night after night).

Edit: I'm shit with stats but a quick look at setlist.fm tells me that in 2015 there was a better balance under similar circumstances.

They would never play a show just for die hards.
We would all love a gig with ton of songs from Boxset and New Jersey tracks on disc 2 but half the audience would hate it. I get that.
But there are ways to make it more interesting for long time fans.
Whats wrong with the odd b-side or rare track?

Like the London O2 shows in 2010? Still remember Jon noting about 'here is one for the die hards out there and since David Bryan is accepting a Toni Award' etc ...... then blasted out Let it Rock! One Die Hard rare song a night would be fine, in fact they could have five which they practice and just play on rotation.

Agreed. 2010 was an interesting time. I wasn't shocked when they pulled 3 or 4 songs from the first album and dropped them almost immediately. It's like they tried to build a new set by splashing a bucket of water on people, it was too much too fast.

Hey guys,

I was taking a look in some videos of the shows in Japan. Anyone notice some hard playbacks in "When we were us"? I know that the band use playbacks for a long time, but not for specifics phrases that Jon should be able to sing (even nowadays).

Take a look in the bridge part around 1:56 (when Jon start to jump - for me a signal that something was wrong - and his voice remains constant) and in the end, when he stop to sing "when we were uuuus" and his voice continue in the sound (around 2:52).

A rare song would be Social Disease, Without You, Stick to your Guns, If I was your mother, Little bit of soul, Outlaws of Love, Good Guys dont always wear white, Love Hurts etc

How hard would it be to throw us ONE bone?

That jumping part is strange, I would guess that you'd hear a difference in sound while jumping. That being said, a playback that sounds like that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense, other than maybe to allow Jon to breathe for a second, since that part sets in rather quickly after the previous one.

But the other part is definitely no playback, but someone else doubling Jon (I believe Everett Bradley or maybe David), the voice is different.
