Hey guys,

I was taking a look in some videos of the shows in Japan. Anyone notice some hard playbacks in "When we were us"? I know that the band use playbacks for a long time, but not for specifics phrases that Jon should be able to sing (even nowadays).

Take a look in the bridge part around 1:56 (when Jon start to jump - for me a signal that something was wrong - and his voice remains constant) and in the end, when he stop to sing "when we were uuuus" and his voice continue in the sound (around 2:52).

Out of curiosity (since he said the same thing in 2017): When and where was this a hit?

I've heard similar banter where he's been a little more specific about it... He's basically said that if the song was released during a different period, it would have been a hit and he's too old to get any radio airplay now...

In the US it was played a fair amount on what is known as the Adult Top 40 radio formats. I can't remember the chart position but I know it was top 15 for some weeks. I just don't have access to old chart info anymore. Certainly not a hit on what's left of top 40 radio terrestrial though.

Yeah, that's what he means. It was in the top 10/15 on Adult Top 40 or something like that. Guess that's considered being a hit nowadays...

Jon-flp I think I heard a very slight change in pitch (Due to jump) when he jumped at 2:06, the way it sounds when he jumps.

Judging by what Rdkopper said I would say that Jon says it's a hit due to lack of self-confidence or so, or just denial..

I really want setlists to become better for Europe haha. And hope he moves, maybe he should remove those teleprompters??

"Roller Coaster" was quoted on live shows as the band new "Hit Single",[26] reaching number 11 on the Adult Contemporary chart.[27]
So, it's almost a top 10 for them (though only in AC), which is the highest for quite some time (HAND?), so I can see where he's coming from, though it's still a bit of a stretch...

I don't really get why he has these anyway since it's basicall the same 25 or so songs for the entire tour.
Plus he had one both in 1996 and 2011 and it didn't stop him from moving :D

For me they are now boring as hell to watch and listen to on these youtube videos.

4 static old men stepping up to the microphones to sing, stepping back for instrumentals and then stepping forward to sing again.

Its so boring. Wheres my favourite rock star gone? Wheres the zip? Wheres the excitement?

Im a very very longtime fan. I don't actually care about the set lists too much. There are still plenty of songs there that would have entertained me on past tours. Now they plod through them with hardly any enthusiasm or energy.

It should'nt be an age issue. Too many of their peers are putting far more into their shows these days and at least try and deliver value for money.

This is the first tour since New Jersey that I havent been really excited for (Yes believe it or not I was still excited in 2013 even though they had been declining by degrees)

For me the worst thing it is not the voice, wich is obviously painfully,it is the lack of ambition,of attitude,of passion.
It is like a job you go and you are looking forward to the time to go home.
Without passion you are nothing.
And it is not just Jon,but the whole band.
They look like civil servants up on stage.
Jon said hed quite when he feels they are a nostalgia act
Jon,you are now a nostalgia act.
Very sad to say that
