I also remember him throwing out the harmonica during American reckoning because he was having troat trouble and getting out air was getting difficult! HAND was the last straw and he quickly talked to the crew from his mic. The beginning line of prayer shows how destroyed his voice was by that point that night.

Weird they would scour YouTube to have some of those videos deleted but one where it CLEARLY shows he's miming to a tape doesn't??!!

As one can see by the videos that had been linked at the time, they did a thorough job of removing memories of that night.

Yep, I'd say it's atypical how there are an infinite number of videos of all kinds out there but they went out of their way to remove the ones from that concert in Houston. That's how bad it was and Jon knew it.

Unless his voice improves a bit somehow, the next tour will be Houston 2022 every concert.

Btw did anything new ever came up about the scar on his neck?

Typical scars for surgery either on the thyroid or due to a herniac disc in the upper spine. Too big for vocal surgery.

Is there a full clip of this?

Don’t think so, it’s still not perfectly on pitch and Jon has a very rough tone hitting it. Also, he was hitting notes around that height frequently in late 2017-early ’18 on songs like BOR, Sat Night, even higher on the part before the Prayer solo (whenever he did it live) etc., so I think he was just pushing his voice to its limit there.

He hasn't done this part live since the 80s has he!?

It was an on-and-off thing. He mimed throughout most of 1987 and through the entire New Jersey tour. After that, there was a backing track he sang over and on some tours, he completely sang it. I remember that he did in quite often from 2008-2011 when his voice was in fine shape, but that he mostly relied on backing/playback tracks from 2013 onwards again. As I said, with the odd exception here and there.

Interesting - thanks, I just presumed he'd been miming that the whole time. Will have to have a closer listen.

You could get away with a lot more back then before YouTube/Social Media. Bootlegs were just a very small circle of population.
