Do you remember in which interview?

jon mentioned it in the boxset dvd/commentary

Becky 06-24-2014 11:34 PM

I remember Jon saying they wrote something like 40 songs for These Days too. We got several demos from it, but I'd love to get the rest of them as well.

danfan 06-24-2014 11:51 PM

The only extras I remember from These Days were All I Want Is Everything, Bitter Wine and Prostitute.

When She Comes, Wedding Day, The End, Lonely At The Top come to my mind as well...

Oh yeah.

You Can't Lose At Love was Bounce, right?

Alphavictim 06-25-2014 03:29 AM

Crush I believe.

New Jersey Deluxe Edition Review

Here's a link I found for an early review. Sorta back-handed positivity which Is per the norm for Jovi releases. I personally dig the title "Backdoor to Heaven." Anyways...check it out:

steel_horse75 06-25-2014 08:16 AM

We have these songs anyway so we wouldn't need them again

They almost reviewed it.

The reviewers are too thick the realise that these songs are nearly 25 years old so may sound a tad 80s

danfan 06-25-2014 09:15 AM

Should we start a separate thread or just do it on here? Let's do each album with every song we know was recorded for it?

Standing and Another Reason To Believe were for Bounce at least, not totally sure about I Don't Want To Live Forever, but I think, too. What about Stay? Wasn't that for These Days, or for another album?

Not for These Days, no.

I don't want to live Forever was a B-side to It's My Life so it must have been Crush.

Thanks! Found a "list", don't know how accurate it is, but at least it lists some of the b-sides/demos with the according album, so maybe we can go from there...

http://archivesa-b.fullalbums.org/bl...s-and-b-sides/

Edit: "River Of Love (Come Alive)" is funny :-D

Wasn't 'Stay' for Crush? I'm 90% certain it was on the 'Say It Isn't So' single/cassette.

You are correct.

Yeah, but I think it was recorded with Jon's solo band for a possible inclusion on his third solo album and was just put on the single afterwards.

danfan 06-25-2014 01:34 PM

I got caught up in the demo fever, so now I'm creating playlists for each album. I thought Fields of Fire was These Days, but upon listening to it last night, I can definitely see it being for Keep The Faith, or possibly even New Jersey, just going by Jon's vocals.

No, it's definitely KTF. It was played on the An Evening With rehearsals.

Are you sure? It sounds like a typical Jovi song riding on their past ballads (ala Thank You For Loving Me). And the backing vocals on the chorus sounds a lot like Richie.

Nope, it's correctly pre-Crush, Jon solo band. The solo is pure Bandiera. Same deal for I Don't Want to Live Forever.

That is not conclusive for me. Mostly because that version of "An Evening" is very different from the studio version, so we would be talking about an alternate version or something similar. I think there are several versions of Studio about Fields of Fire. One was recorded for KTF, the version of "An Evening" seems a Demo. The studio version maybe was recorded later, 1994 I guess. IMO.

Yeah, it most likely was. But it was written for KTF or during that album cycle, that's what I meant.

That's for sure.

Also re-worked on a second version of Lets Make it Baby and Diamond Ring.

Now the latter is interesting. I know those sheets, but never noticed it. Well it took until These Days then for Diamond Ring, 3 albums ;-) Which is strange, since Jon always emphasized that they only take songs from the current "period" for an album...

Yeah, I'm sure that Fields of Fire also has several versions of study. And I still think the studio version that we all know, belongs to 1994.

Does anyone know if the iTunes download is going to have a digital booklet?

danfan 06-25-2014 10:13 PM

I don't care if it was written for Faith, Outlaws of Love is going on my New Jersey playlist.

That's funny stuff! I to consider that from the New Jersey time frame. I also like squeezin' the original, "Love Ain't Nothing But a Four Letter Word" somewhere in that playlist. Always felt that it had more of an 80's vibe to it.

What a treat to be getting it this early. Man.....here in the U.S., we've got ~124.5hrs to go. Going to be rough these next few days.
I guess I can settle for the NBA draft tomorrow, to keep my mind occupied.

Good to see an Aussie high up on draft board. Love the international flavor of the NBA. Very cool. Look forward to your review.

If anyone wants the full versions of Diamond Ring, Full Moon High and Homebound Train but don't want to buy them just send me a PM with your e-mail and I'll send them to you.
Diamond Ring is freaking amazing, such a shame it wasn't released in 88 as a b-side or actually they should've released instead of Love for Sale or Ride Cowboy Ride

Savvi 06-26-2014 07:49 AM

I cant get enough of Diamond Ring. So good!
