The man is in his 50's after all and for me he can still put on a good show for nearly 3 hours. |
Obbie O'Brian
Hi everybody. I am completely new to this forum, even if I have been following this thread for a couple of weeks now...now I finally registered because I think this might be interesting for you. Yesterday I was at the concert in Prague. Before the show, waiting in the DC, Mr. Obbie O'Brian just wandered around, alone, nobody seemed to recognize him...so I addressed him, we shook hands and had a chat, a very nice guy. I of course asked about Richie and in a very opened way like "did he leave the band? you know we are worried" He said simply: no, he will be back. Quite interesting, isn't it ?
By the way, the gig was wonderful, they were really doing their best, despite the pouring rain... |

Obie also told in Munich that there is a chance to see Richie in Cologne. I didn't see him.

Matt's latest twitter:
why do some think it is OK to stalk the band in their hotel??? Creepy if you ask me.... prisoners in our rooms oh joy Are they really stalking you, Matt? :p |

Matt is so delusional it's hilarious.

He does have a point though. Hanging around the hotels is just embarrassing. No wonder Jon hates touring nowadays. |
Wait, I want to change my joke to one about Jon getting pissed off that every hotel he goes to, Matt turns up.

Honestly I think it's time to close this account. Sorry, maybe language difference my words get twisted. It was fun but not in a long time. |
Fans do stalk Matt to an extent too. They think they can get to Jon through him.

I also find it silly to blame people for not being natives. The problem is not that english isn't the mother language of every Bon Jovi fan, is that Matt's diplomacy is nonexistent. |

Wow deleting post about closing account. Heavy blocking instead. Thanks for tweets ( https://twitter.com/MatthewBongiovi/...58856726597632 ) |

Matthew Bongiovi @MatthewBongiovi 4m Wow deleting post about closing account. Heavy blocking instead. Thanks for tweets I actually appreciate Matt answering tweets although I don't follow him and don't check his site often. I don't consider him to be a PR person and don't expect him to be one. He and Phil are the only ones who are interacting with fans via Twitter. Fans at concerts can't meet any of the main band members and if they for some reason want to meet Jon, it is arranged as an expensive event. However, fans can meet Matt, Obie and a few others at a concert and I think that is cool. I don't expect Obie or Matt to break any confidences with regard to the Richie situation to a fan that nabs them for a brief, private conversation. |

Guys, I have a train to catch in a few hours and have yet to go to sleep, so I won't do the crazy work I did last time with Matt's tweets, but I've read them all and he's not referring to fans waiting outside their hotel, he's talking about people booking rooms at the same hotel of the band for multiple times (he said once is okay to him) and sitting at the bar with the same drink of members of the band, staying at the gym without working out and such.
Also, in between a MILLION tweets about this matter (with people misunderstanding him, hence the "threat" to close his account), he also tweeted about Richie: Quote:
EDIT: People like this don't help, my God. Quote:

Blocking some of the "tweeters" who constantly whine and moan is what he should have done from the start. My patience wears thin quickly and in his position I probably would have ripped a new one on some folk. :D

Not to mention, he's good for a laugh every now and then... unintentional, of course. |

If they could just put a meet & greet in an affordable price and during this meet & greet sign some stuff of the fans, like their albums, vinyls, stickers etc & then take a few pictures with them, I don't think that this would happen at all. I mean stalking the band outside of their hotel is too much, indeed, as they want some privacy too. But anyway, you can do it once but everytime in a while it's a bit too much. Okay, they are our heroes, we want to meet them, this should be respected too. After all, they won't get killed or something if they go out there sign some stuff & take a picture with some fans.
But booking in the same hotel for a whole leg, wow! You must be rich :D |

Fans hanging out at hotels has been going on since forever its really not a big deal. |
I'm not sure I would want to go out of my way to try to meet the band. I'd probably freeze and not know what to say, and don't really need to find out if my idols are pricks.;)

You can sort of slightly understand it overseas, as they are seldom over here for any great length and don't do any signings or fan meetings so for the people who want to meet them the options are either Concert venues, TV studios if doing promo or outside the hotel. |
In my mind though there is a big difference between waiting outside the bands hotel (which I'm personally not a fan of either but I get it), and stalking them around in the hotel. I think once they are inside, they should be allowed to be normal and not have to worry about fans lurking around corners etc...... Just saying.

They had it worser back in the heyday and when they couldn't get out of the hotel at all and had to wear disguises wherever they went. Here is a link to the band leaving Prague. Check out the man holding the little child. He gets Jon's autograph and Jon gives it to him but then he tries for the second time but Jon is about to give him an autograph but then notices that it's the same man and pushes/shoves him away. They say that Jon sees everything and he is good to recognize the guy. Obviously an autograph hunter. Rolo just again to be on the safe side ND on his shirt stands for Notre Dame, don't want any misunderstanding that it's a secret message to Sambora. https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=xfhEywXm_LM |
My take on that tweet is that fans were getting INSIDE the hotel and trying to find the band....
People hanging around outside the hotel in the hope of maybe seeing them has been happening for decades and is part and parcel of being famous. Stalking them inside takes it to a whole new, and despicable, level. |

Did I ever tell you guys the story about when I was staying at a hotel in Jersey after one of the shows, Jon was staying in the room directly across from me? |
Quote:
As a 16 year old though (long long time ago) we ran around the hotel car parks, back entrances and front entrances and it was fun. I have heard stupid stories of people knocking on doors they have no business knocking on and being in gyms in full street clothes including heels obviously not there for a work out which just makes them look foolish. |
