You posted a mistake he made ONE time and said it happened every show, I gave you an example of how it would look like if it was the other way around. Obviously you couldn't defend your argument anymore and felt the need to change the subject to 30+ years and albums sold? Maybe something is getting lost in communication here, you could just say "yeah it's not every show, but I don't like his interpretations of the solos" which would be just fine. I don't have time to keep searching youtube for it. It's OK, it's not his songs, just admit it.

Phil, a professional, but still has much to learn.

Richie, a ****ing drunk, but not bad.

Irony?

Ya know what's funny to me? Richie claims to have been burnt out and needed a break-- which is probably true-- but I've seen more of him than I ever did before he quit the tour. He's everywhere. Doing everything. Jamming with fabric is a lot of work. So much for that break...

I'm also shocked the first comment on this video hasn't been deleted:

Seems pretty spot on.

Richie is in bad shape, but it does not more hurt that Jon singing "under pressure" with The King of Suburbia or Amen, make no mistake.

Richie can to be fit again, he always comes back.

Probably he needed a break from 'Bon Jovi', not from breathing air.

He wanted to do the hell whatever he wants... except Tour with Bon Jovi.

Sure, it wasn't the exact copy of Richie's solos, he didn't play them with the same intensity or even emotion, he held on to some notes longer but quickly went down the scale, he saved a the first TD solo after he basically had nowhere to go after the first 4 bars. But to say those are **** ups?? That's just an ignorant remark to make, ****ing up a solo is playing notes out of key and flubbing up without a single not for more than a second which Richie often do. Just admit it, you don't like him, and that's fine, but ****ing up the solos he is not. It's just your personal preference. Go ahead, admit it.....

This will be my last post regarding this bullshit because honestly you guys have no ****ing clue what you're on about. You're just regurgitating the same "Richie is awesome Phil X ****s up!" comments in as many ways as you can find. For the last ****ing time, He didn't **** up those solo's!! That's what the argument is about, not about who is better, it's about how yes he does play them differently but no, that doesn't mean he's ****ing them up! They are not to your liking, that is fine!!! But he is not ****ing the solos up!!!

Bounce7800 11-13-2013 12:48 AM

Come on people, comparing Phil X to Richie is pretty damn pointless in this way. Richie didn't leave because Phil was replacing him. Richie went, Phil is the stand in. Mutually exclusive events. Him doing a very admirable job does not detract from anything Richie has done in the past. The "Who's best" argument is pointless and irrelevant. Just be thankful that we have an adequate stand-in who not only does a decent job but is having a blast and actually giving back to the fans through social media, as opposed to being stuck with Bobby on lead.

Sorry, been out of the loop for a while, so I'm guessing the Austrailian Today show clip was posted. Honestly, Richie is a big goddamn baby and he's full of shit. 24/7 for 30 years. With what band? From 1984 to 1990 that's a valid point, but from February of 1990 to December of 1991, the band was apart. From 1992-1996, OK, sure. But seriously dude, stop bitching about the "24/7" shit. At least half of that time is spent making the records. You know what that's called Richie? A job. And a damn good one. We all have them. At the end of the day, you go home to your family. And with a shitload lot more money than any of us, so pardon me if I don't dry for you Argentina. From 1996-2000, again, no band. Any time "away from his family", his call. And yeah, from 2000 on it has been album-tour, but again, you've got a box set in there in 2004, where they weren't around. You've got a GH record after the Circle Tour. Jesus, the guy's had more time off than any of us have had in our lives. I agree they maybe should have taken more time off after the last tour, but he should have come to this realization that he didn't want to be a part of it from the get-go. You don't call in sick one day and decide you're taking the next 6 months off. And don't use the "I wanna be a Daddy" excuse either when you're traveling the world with some blonde bimbo playing Ken and Barbie for the fashion world.

JBJ isn't the JBJ of my Yokohama bootleg circa 1996 effortlessly hitting the high notes in Prayer. RS isn't the Sambora of the 1995 European MTV Awards absolutely killing Hey God. And on and on … maybe it's best to let my memories be what they are (and still enjoy them) but stop expecting this band to fill the role they once did in my life and just enjoy what they put out and discard what I don't enjoy.

You have put into words what has been in the back of my mind for some time. I've spent way too much time focused on this drama that has nothing at all to do with my life. I'll see Bon Jovi with or without Richie. And I'll enjoy the shows.

Following this train wreck of a story makes my life look calm and wonderful and peaceful in comparison. And perhaps I should be focusing on my own very imperfect life and let the Jovi drama play out as it will.

As you said, I'll treasure the memories that I have, but I need to let go of the voyeuristic interest in Richie and his role, or lack thereof, in the band.

Now are not funny, they are just clowns smiling constantly. It's just another trick of Jon, as that speech before play "Wanted", or Phil X as "Brother Phil".

That was a cute video. I've never seen it before. You are right - Jon didn't have much of a sense of humor about the guitar malfunctions :)

Remfild 11-13-2013 09:56 AM

He has quit the tour because he was tired of it AND to spend more time with Ava.

For a few months you didn't hear anything from him so I guess he was spending this time with his daughter, driving her to school etc. Remember about that.

Now Richie is more active, I don't see anything wrong with that but I guess you want him to be a prisoner in his own house just because he is not with Jon now.

and hi, it's my first post here.

I can't argue with any of that. He's very privilaged to get paid extremely well to do a job that he loves, no sympathy from me. In fact, since he joined twitter, cancelling shows, ill all the time. bailing on tours etc. He comes accross as nothing but very spoilt and far removed from his fans. Needs a serious reality check.

Ok, my thoughts on all this Richie seems to be traveling a LOT for someone who wanted to be Dad. I understand not wanting to leave sometimes but most of us can't afford that option. But, he has a Joint Custody Agreement with Heather - simply put Ava is only at his home 1/2 of the time - so if he traveled 3.5 months out of the last 7 - depending if time she was gone anyway - a moot point. I don't believe that to anyone except the few over the tops - this is the entire story. To me, it's not that he is out and about but the where, what and whom that seems a bit unusual. On tour, you don't decide when you travel, a promoter does. Now, he has put his foot in his mouth so much lately, it's easy to criticize every move. (IE: 8 years sober got a lot of us, reality maybe 8 years in the battle) To me, it's as if he is having a mid-life crisis. For a celebrity - that has to be a bitch. Be glad if/when it passes.

Help...I heard an interview (at least I'm sure I did) where Richie was explaining why he left the tour and said something along the lines of "I'm sure the rest of the band aren't too happy with me about it but I don't care - it's something I needed to do". Does anybody remember which interview this was??
