Jon sent Richie back in time to run over Paul McCartney, therefore ensuring Paul truly would be dead.

I have to say I am over it. Sounds like the band were on fire in Cape Town and they will be nicely warmed up by the time they hit the UK. Whether Richie is there or not, I will be and I can't wait.

Agree with everything there, especially the last part. If they change up the setlists and the music sounds good, then I'll be happy. There has def been shows where Richie hasn't been on top form and I've still enjoyed the show. Milton Keynes 06 springs to mind, night two he was def on the sauce. Agree it's still not BJ without him but no point in dwelling on it. Gotta go with an open mind and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Yes, that is what was said. I was listening out for any mention of Richie, there wasn't.

As for Phil X, not liking the bands music, I agree with Deb that its not a big deal, but I don't believe he has as much disdain for the music as some believe. I was reaalllly bored one day and having discovered his instagram went through way back through his photo's, and there was a photo of him a friend or two and his wife/ girlfriend attending a Bon Jovi concert. Granted I doubt he paid but I'm sure he didn't have to go either. He seems to be really proud to be playing with the band and his friends and family are really proud and happy for him.

Basically what I'm trying to say is while the music may not be his cup of tea, there doesn't appear to be a lack of respect for the band.

I don't believe he was taking a knock at Bon Jovi's music in that video. He does video's for Fretted America, whilst with Bon Jovi he can't do those video's so for the viewers of the videos there's no rock n roll with him until he is done with Bon Jovi.

Yes, and fair play to you. And if you want to play that card, nobody has ever seen the "Rolling Stones" since Brian Jones died. I saw Jon Bon Jovi, I heard the catalogue of Bon Jovi songs, and had a great time. Was my guitar hero, a founding member of the group that is Bon Jovi, there? No. Was I disappointed? Sure. Did I still get the tunes? You bet. Did Jon, Phil, T, David, Hugh and Bobby work their ASSES OFF and earn my ticket price and appreciation, absolutely they did.

Also, if you read the ticket's fine print, it essentially says that the show ITSELF is not guaranteed. Refunds and logistics not withstanding.

Don't forget Phil X has attracted over 30 million hits on his frettedamericana videos! He's trying to showcase those guitars, and play the sort of styles that "fit" the guitar. His repertoire is vast. He has played BJ riffs a number of times, memorably on a 12 string.
I have some sympathy for him, as, in order to appease the casuals, he must be true to the original recordings, which in turn disappoints the hard core who love the "soul" Richie adds in the live environment, sober or not. Shit or Bust basically.

I think I know what's happened:p

No I agree, Richie Sambora is not the equivalent of Brian Jones. Richie Sambora is the equivalent of Keith Richards.

You attend a show of "The Rolling Stones" without Keith Richards?

Sambo-Chris 05-10-2013 01:28 PM

You wouldn't need to think about it since the Stones cancelled their tour when Keith Richards couldn't be there. Like every band does when a member can't be there.

GNR carried on without Izzy before he offically left.
