I don't think there is any higher reason for the missing track(s) but that they just messed it up. The pattern of missing tracks is too much of a chaos to blame recording lenghts or something like that for it.
While Stuttgart 1996 is an absolute gem show-wise, I was shocked when I listened to the mix. For a professional recording from a band that big as Bon Jovi, the quality is just terrible. Either they compressed it to death to save space and make broadcasting easier or they have no idea how to record and mix a live recording (and thus mostly depended on recordings and mixes from third parties when it came to live B-sides).
There are audience recordings that sound much better than this professional recorded show.

I don't think it was recorded with the intent of being one day released though. More than likely it was a basic mix for the band to listen to after the show to make notes and see what worked. Had this been earmarked for release or b-side I have to assume it'd be remixed entirely. For that reason I can't really knock the quality of it, even though you're bang on.

David is really high in the mix, for all we know this was intended for him, who knows.

I agree with this point.. all these these shows have the basic mix, in fact you can compare the singles of the time where you can find superior live mixes. One of the things about this show is that it doesn't have that feeling of reverberation in the voice and environment. In any case, it is also a problem with the transmission itself, you can compare the audios of these shows in JBJ Experience where they sound clearer in terms of quality, but it still feels like a basic mix.

Thinny 07-21-2023 12:31 PM

I'll take the basic mixes over nothing. They are good enough to enjoy. They are obviously doing it on a budget, but I'm just happy to have all these shows in decent quality, regardless.

Someone said it was a repeat of Hershey 2010.

the idea that it wasnt recorded for release is nt true imo...

When you have pure sources from each instrument with minimum bleeding there are huge possibilities mixing wise...

The Bj camp is known to be lazy BUT if a pro mixer decided to mix and master all these sources the final results would blow you away!!

There are many techniques to be applied to make it sound huge and shiny, all you need is good recorded sources and great performances.

(there are also certain settings that could be applied in general with minimum tweaking, the concerts we listen have minimum processing, i think obie is able for better results but thinks its good enough for its purpose, a live presentation but they could sound much better)

But why would they have been recording all these shows if it wasn't for internal use? The implication that they were all recorded for a specific purpose, I don't buy. I do agree someone could take these and edit them to sound good, but why would they do that for this method of releasing them? I could see if they were selling them, to clean them up and make them worth the money received but they're not going to do that for shows someone is choosing to be played for free. It's not like the general public is going to be more interested in purchasing one-off shows if the drums are louder in the mix

The pure sources for each instrument has nothing to do with the purpose it was recorded for, especially if its purpose was mixes for the band to review set to levels they ask for.

And here we go - it was 100th broadcast of SiriusXM "Live from the archives".

A pity, although it was good for me, since I got home late to catch it.

Let's see, there was a videotape out back in the day with 3/4 of the show in soundboard audio and distant video. Was this broadcasted in stereo or mono?

Stereo. And IMHO better quality than FM broadcast, so maybe better source than YouTube ;)

Aloha !

That show at Milton Keynes is tough to listen to. Jon's clearly having trouble keeping up with the band which is subsequently dragging the band down. The first hour of the show is okay but after Wild in the Streets he's done and yet he keeps pushing his voice more and more resulting in vocals nearly going off the rails. Surely there's better shows from the One Wild Night tour?

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Yep. Cardiff, Paris or Cologne were far better vocally.

I'm actually surprised we are getting shows were the vocals aren't great, i feel like Dublin 2001 was similar in this regard.

Still happy to be getting these shows and really hope these continue. Would be great to get a proper 2003 Electric or Half/Half show.

Assuming today is another rerun of one of the already aired shows?

Have been listening, but am yet to hear the announcement. I would assume this week will be a re-run.

Will update once I know.

Thanks - it's always nice to know ahead of time. If I don't hear - I default to recording and then listening LOL

Have a great time Kathleen!! It seems that they have stopped doing the promos in the days leading up, I haven't heard one since LV 2011. Not long now and we'll know. Hoping for Bounce Tour proper.
