For me,it is the first time since I become a fan, back in 1994,that Im not excited about the idea of having a new Bon Jovi album.
And it has nothing to be with Jons voice, with no Richie in the band or those kind of things. Im tired of Johns Shanks records.Tired of his sound,of his way of producing, tired of his songs arrangements, etc. I have the feeling of,without being created, having already listened to the new album. I know it has been debated many times on this board, but I had to say it. I think Jon should change producer, should write with other people, should change things, but we all know he is very comfortable by John Shanks shadow,so.. |
JBJ should get outside writers in as the last 2 or 3 albums show - he is out of ideas.
Ditch Yes man Shanks and get someone in who can get the band to produce something they havent for nearly 20 years - an all killer no filler rock album. |
I hope that after the new album there will be a Box set with Outtakes/ unreleased songs…. kind (Mona Lisa, One to Say Goodbye, Closer, Rage of Angels etc.…)

I dug Walls; we'll see.

Also, and I know this won't happen, Phil did say he'd love to write with Jon at some point... maybe we could get one... you can't fault the Drills on riffs and he did write which is like 80% lyrically acceptable for Jovi. Ok, so maybe he shouldn't write the words, but the music is awesome. |
Jon said the albums not completely written but he's happy what he has so far.

His style is cheesy and boring so no thanks. Jon goes for yes-people and John kisses his butt. One of the reasons they are a medicore band. |

He is there because he is good. That's the problem, he's there because he's good at what he does and speeds up the process.

The 2019 Unnamed Album
As long as shanks is involved with the band the sound and style will never interest me.
The last couple of albums have been turd and I expect the new one will be as well. They’ve written too many duff albums to make me think they can come back with even a 7/10 effort. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I think that we gotta be happy that a new album are coming because every new album is " a new world to discover" , for me the last two albums are good albums…., obviously the stile is changed , for example i prefer Bounce and Have a Nice Day than THINFS for various reasons but also THINFS is ok :) anyway…. i'm Always happy to hear new songs and i hope that after new album Jon he decides to release another Box Set.…
what do you aspect from the new album? |

I'm hoping for:
- anything that goes off the beaten pattern - a different sound, the last four albums were pretty much interchangeable - actual themes and not observations and the state of the economy - some musical depth, no matter in what form I'm expecting: - What About Now part 4 Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5X mit Tapatalk |

I am totally fine with Jon never putting out another mediocre album or playing another sad show with his current voice and protecting whatever Bon Jovi legacy there's still left. Quote:

I hope for the same as most of us, though. |
I think WWWU and Walls is probably a good indication of where the next album will take us. I like Walls as a song, but that's not what I want from Bon Jovi. WWWU just seemed like an attempt to capitalize on the Hall Of Fame induction.
|
I have a teory about THINFS.... maybe many songs " with rage and pain" have been discarded from the session of 2015 for THINFS after that Jon is returned with the universal for varies reason.... between Jon , the label etc...

But yeah the pop pap of Walls and WWWU is where this album is heading. |
Personally quite like Walls and WWWU. I did originally like Walls more as I felt it was slightly different but I much prefer WWWU now. As always, I think it's the production that's the problem.
I'm still a big fan of THINFS as an album in all honesty. It's obviously not as good as when it first come out for me but I still think it has some solid songs. A mixture of BB and THINFS as we've said in the past would be a great album. I'm not sure how I feel on the band being back in the studio. I'll always welcome new material but what's Jon got to write about? What's he going to sound like? How different will it be? Is it going to be released in time for European tour or after? Agree that Walls was the better of the newer 2.

Who knows what JBJ’s “artistic needs” now are but I would like the new album to sound kinda like a live record and beside good melodies and lyrics I also would like memorable guitar solos |
I think they must recorder with others people like return with Bob Rock
|
|
Not only that, I don't think it would fit right now anymore. I'm all for changing things up, but going back to Bob Rock isn't the solution in my eyes. Plus he's also done a couple of records after Bon Jovi that were quite bad sound wise in my book.

Obviously Bob is working with Richie right now, so it's never gonna happen, but I'd take a Bob Rock produced Bon Jovi album over a Shanks one any day of the week! |

I'd like on new album one song with the collaboration of Richie , but i think will not happen….. I expect one album with sonority kind "Walls" , "Born Again Tomorrow" and "The Devil's In The Temple". |
