Holy crap, did Richie mess up the intro on that one...

And he didn't have to wait long for Jon's tingler. Great start into the night :D

Yeah, these vids have made it around here a few dozen times. I love to discuss this time period. Based on these performances, I think the Sex Sells erra would have been a fun time to enjoy Jon as a solo artist. After the darker DA album and tour, SS was more of a straight up rock album. Although the songs weren't all that powerful, I think they would have been great to enjoy live. Comparing the Just Older live versions between SS and Crush, there is definitely more spunk in the SS version.

Hopefully one day we'll get the completed SS album as it was intended to be released. Maybe on a Crush deluxe edition.

I think we have most of the tracks in one form or another. Except the title track! It must be a good one if they were going to name the album after it so why it never made the boxset is anyone's guess.....

It is not. Jon keeps those songs for the 40th anniversary, and a new box set will be released.

Sex Sells songs:
Someday You'll Ride Wild Horses
Shadow Dancing
Life's Too Short For Days Like These
Sex Sells
Forbidden Love
Even In Your Imagination
Good Ain't Good Enough
Gimme Some

We still know what these 3 sound like although I'd like them in Studio Quality...

Again, old news but it certainly does paint a picture of the musical direction Jon was heading towards with his 3rd solo album. Jon did still have some vocal strength in '98 so I think hearing those songs live would have been better than the studio tracks. Hush and Just Older are proof of that.

I also wonder, if the album was released, who the musicians were who played on it. Probably Hugh on all bass. It would be interesting if Jon and Bobby covered all guitar parts. With DA being Jon's experimental album, one could only assume that SS was going to be more of a simple rock record, probably thrown together in Jon's home studio.

Although we heard a lot of demos written around that period, it's hard to tell which ones were specific to DA, SS, & Crush. I think that the 6 songs listed above, the ones that were never officially released, were key songs to that album.

Here are songs that I believe could have made the final album (along with the few listed above):

Rich Man
Just Older
Crazy Love
Last Chance Train
These Arms Are Open All Night
Real Life

Here are songs that I think were written for it but would have never made it for one reason or another:

Hush (I'm 50/50 on this one)
Life's Too Short (I'm 50/50 on this one)
All I Wanna Do Is You
Shut Up And Kiss Me
Gimme Some
Kidnap An Angel
Mister Big Time (I'm 50/50 on this one)
