Sorry, just thought that was quite scary/funny in a way.

Well, for what it's worth, "having a row" is not a common turn of phrase in America, so I'm not surprised he pronounced it like "row your boat".

IML88 05-15-2013 10:28 PM

Regardless of whether he comes back for any dates on this tour, one things for sure. Things will go very quiet in the bon jovi world for a couple of years. Long old hiatus on the cards.

I noticed that also, thought it an odd phrase to use instead of the "we're not fighting/arguing" expression. And that gives me an excuse to use this :agrue:

Okay... but to think that because of that he was reading through bullet points? I don't know, I don't see the connection. LOL

I can't hear the interview with Jon. It says it's not supported by my browser.

I had a dream last night that Jon told me Richie left the band. That doesn't mean anything. I just thought I'd share it. For the record I also dreamed that Romney won the election so my dream to reality batting average isn't that great. LOL

I think JON has firmly put the ball into Richies court there. Firstly JON obviousley is reading from some sort of note as he says "we did not have a row" he says row (sounding RO), that points to me he is reading perhaps some bullet points to get across.
Richie is obviousley not coming back any time soon in my view, the comment "as long as he is up for it" speaks volumes, meaning that Samboras heart wasnt in it and he just didnt want to carry on "Putting an act on" so to speak, watch this clip of WATER at about 4:02 Richie is jamming away with his facial expressions and all of a sudden drops out of character very briefly and looks up, the drops back into his act.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-Wpk4R53kk

The pause before answering indicates that he is both annoyed and tired of the subject, and added to that he mentions "thats not being evasive".

It hurts me to admit that Richie Sambora has left the building folks. but I still feel let down by him that he hasnt come out and said anything thats set in stone, personal issues are his private issues and I repect that but if he indeed has left/given up pretending he needs to come out and say what he is doing and why, then for me personally I can move on and accept the fact.......
I do however see it coming in the future.........."JON & RICHIE Back together for the first time in 5 years get your GC/DC/GA/VIP/FREE SILLY SPECIAL EDITION CARRIER BAG VIP BAR/MEET JONS SECOND COUSIN packages NOW!!!!" ;)

I do not think they are problems between Richie and Jon. The performance from Tampa means nothing, IMO.

They bring 30 years of friendship.

Jon takes a few years in a bad mood, no longer the cheerful boy.

the more I put some things together, the more I think Richie is not coming back soon, quit maybe? who knows? hurts too much still even if it is a rumor..

For you and everybody not being able to listen to it, here's the transcript of the part where he talks about Richie:

Pete: We know Richie isn't playing the European tour. Will he be back with the band in the future?

Jon: (very long pause)… Let's just say I certainly hope so. He has not been fired from the band... He's not ill... He's got some personal stuff that he's gotta deal with and I can't comment any further and it's not me being elusive, but it's for him to answer any further than that. We did not have a row… but... we go on. And he's always going to be the... welcome as long as he is up for it.

steel_horse75 05-15-2013 11:32 PM

That pause from JBJ in the interview.... You could tell he wanted to tell more but then said its not for him to say.

But we now defo no that he aint Ill

Richie is taking the piss out of every single ticket buying fan

Becky 05-15-2013 11:32 PM

Thanks for that transcript!

Thank you for the writing this part.

I thought the answer was just for Europe and this tour but the question is with the band in the future? and Jon doesn't know.

Richie needs to talk and not just to say his ****ing great and tip top. The guy is being an ass at the moment with his tweets.

I hope it is not that. I think it's normal to feel more fun and happiness with your own creations.

Taylor Hawkins of foo fighters, said in an interview, who played with a tribute band and confessed he had fun playing, much more than with the foo fighters in your life.

I don't wanna be a drama queen or read into things or anything, but I'd also like to point out how - in my humble, crazy, not predictive opinion - he was totally going for a "he's always gonna be the guitarist". That's why I specifically included his "slip" in the transcript.

Thanks for the link. Good interview. He sounds really enthusiastic about Slane. I hope everything works out for that show for the band and fans alike.

Solid Sambora 05-16-2013 12:13 AM

That interview is probably the first real bit of clarity from within the band, even if it doesn't fully answer the question. Actually made me feel really sympathetic for Jon- you could feel his frustration and it did sound like he wanted to say more. Just wish someone would finally put us out of our misery.

It's really starting to get more and more clear by the day that only Richie could do that. Of course, he's not the one chased by interviewers. I feel for Jon as well.

rolo_tomachi 05-16-2013 12:33 AM

Jon is a very smart guy, he could say that Richie returns on June 6, but then many fans of Vienna, Munich, Oslo, Sweden, Firland, angry because they know there will be Richie after.

Richie said he will return, Jon said he will return, Matt said he will return, Obie said yesterday that it will return ...

Beaky 05-16-2013 12:34 AM

As I said a while back, no row, it's just that things were not how Richie wanted them. I think this is a stubborn stand-off between the two of them and I think it's not been raised voices or fighting, it's just something made Richie ask for more time off or to sing a solo song or something dead simple and it's just escalated out of nothing.

This happens when you've known people years and years, it won't be something big that makes those type of colleagues/friends fall out, it will be something simple and stupid. As I've said, Jon won't have changed the game, he's a smart guy but Richie has asked to appear at something, take a day off or miss a gig for some reason and Jon has told him 'no.'

Richie looks like a pr*ck here and the longer this goes on, the more of a prick he is going to look. When people say 'he wouldn't do this, it's career suicide,' I don't think this has been thought through, I think it was done on a spare of the moment and he thought Jon would back down and now it's just turned into a staring competition. Jon isn't helping but basically telling people 'I don't know... ' it just puts everything on RS and it's surely going to make him even more determined to just say '**** you mate, I am not coming back.'
Don't get me wrong, Richie isn't doing himself any favours but they are going back and forth with interview-tweet-interview-pic on Twitter... Jon drops hints that everything is fine from his point of view and it's down to Richie, Richie tells everyone he's 'f*cking great' almost a little *too* enthusiastically.

I think this is the reason they haven't spoken because now, Jon is privately pissed off. Everything I say about this guy, he will NOT be happy that the shows are going on without RS, that he's taken flak for it and, more importantly, they've had to hand out refunds. I really can't see this being anything but a silly little spat over something and both of them sticking to their principles.

Long time friend of JBJ's....does the "mixing" or something. He's part of JBJ's inner circle. You can usually see him at most shows.

Just heard the interview, Jon sounds honestly frustrated, and understandably so. I hope I'm wrong here, but I really think it's possible for Richie to be ill at this very moment. Not hospital bed 24/7 ill, but ill enough that he needs to undergo treatment....

Why shut up? That's a good thing if you haven't realized richie is the guitarist for a band called Bon Jovi...if he's playing again then he may be ready to come back

It sents the wrong message and creates more speculation, stop pretending you're not seeing this. And looking at Richie's recent enthusiasm on twitter, it seems as he's doing it on purpose. Which is something I don't understand. If he's gone for good, just say it for christ sake! It would save you from looking like a complete prick who doesn't give a shit about people who paid money to see him, with Europe and South America, may I add being THE ONLY places where he has any real fanbase.

Yer I'm the prick...I only go to the shows for Jon...god I only went to London to see richie sing who says because that's how much of an arse I am....oooo look at that I'm even going to a gig this leg...funny that I'm such a prick I didn't even realize that I spent over £100 a ticket to see the band but get 3/4

Geez dude, the 'you' part and 'prick' remark was refering to Richie. Calm down :D My apologies, I thought it was pretty obvious that I was explaining his actions.

LeaJovi 05-16-2013 02:04 AM

Well if for any reason Richie wanted more money and tried to prove that BJ isn't the same without him, he surely did prove that.

These shows are pathetic.

You know, I think you're probably not wrong with this post. If you are right, to me, Richie doesn't just look like a prick, he is a prick.

If you are right he has been unprofessional in the extreme and has proven that he doesn't give two f**ks about his fans.

Hats off to Jon for the way he has tried to handle this. Whether he was right or wrong in any falling out (and there is a decent chance that he's acted like an egomaniac or a prick in that case), at least he has tried to do his job properly and maintained as dignified a silence as he could have.

I'm gonna throw my hat in the Pro Jon ring. With fans like this, who needs enemies? Have there been some flubs this tour compared to others? Absolutely. Maybe if some people stopped looking at it like an academic discipline and just HAD SOME F****** FUN, they'd lighten the hell up. I've been to four shows since HAND, and I missed Richie in Denver, but Jon was the best I've seen him.

It's fine to have an opinion about what's going on, and the discussion and speculation is fun as hell, but the attitude of some people takes the fun out of the whole thing, IMO.
