Looking forward to this new album! Thank you! |
Cover not bad
https://up-1.cdn-fullscreendirect.co...49_939480.jpeg Video is killer! Sounds Death Magnetic Vol. 2, but with better mix. |
This band should have stayed and died in the 90's.

I'm so excited for this album, especially considering that it's a double-LP. The single is a fantastic shot of adrenaline that is a little different to what they did on DM. Thrash doesn't have to be 7mins long, and this song recalls the Kill Em All era (esp Whiplash/Hit the Lights-style) of fast, aggressive and obnoxious metal. I was a little concerned by Lords of Summer - though even that has grown on me. Hope there's a little variation on the album (you'd think so, given that there's 80 mins of music!).
I've been a huge fan of the band since I was about 12, and I've never followed a release - so I definitely be buying the deluxe edition in physical format on release day. On another note, the album cover looks wicked - Metallica have generally great album art imo. The video I didn't really like though - all the flashing lights bothered me a little. Wow, my two favourite bands releasing albums in consecutive months! What a time to be alive! |
Song is actually fun. The chours lyrics are a tad cringy, but oh well. Good thing it's only 3 minutes, I've never really dug overlong Metallica - yes, that includes several tracks on Master Of Puppets.
With it being 80 minutes for just 12 songs, I doubt it's gonna be Kill 'em All #2, though. Which is kind of a bummer, but oh well. |

One data, Hardwired video has 1,400,000 views in just 16 hours. This House is not For Sale video has 1,700,000 views in one week. |

But you're absolutely right - Metallica still have huge drawing power, their live shows are still some of the best around, and the two full releases they've had since the turn of the century each have their fair share of 'relevant' and/or kick-ass tracks. Yes, even St. Anger (which I personally love!). The prospect of a double album has excited me immensely, and given the initial reaction to Hardwired, has excited many other people too! |

Bon Jovi could do as Metallica, releasing an album every four or five years, creating expectation and ensure their fan base, adding more rock. Regarding the video and the song, I like it. The beginning of the song reminds me Holier Than Thou. |

In my opinion, Hardwired is very much "back-to-roots" - or as "back-to-roots" we can hope for. It progresses like a Kill Em All track and yet carries a Dyer's Eve vibe with DM production (which admittedly I'm not a fan of). There is something St. Anger-esque there too, but without that shitty snare sound, nor the elongated riffage - so I don't really see the problem. Unless of course you just didn't like the actual songwriting for that album. Vocals are also top notch in my opinion - better than half of DM at least. I'm interested to know what your favourite Metallica albums/songs are? And what kind of album would you like them to release? |
I mean who doesn't like The Black album but the real core of Metallica is everything prior... And Justice For All was their first breakthrough commercial success in America... But to be honest, I can't pick a favorite. Songs like Seek and Destroy are just classic Metallica and still get me going... if I had to pic one, it might be Fade To Black... Killer drumming... I wasn't crazy about Load and ReLoad... Something was off... There were a few great ones and maybe if they just combined the best from the two together, I might have a different opinion but they tried to create the Black album magic and it just didn't work... after that my Metallica obsession kinda went away for a while... I liked alot of covers from Garage Days but that was what it was... just like with Bon Jovi, they've done it all and I don't think much is left in the tank... I need to hear both albums to post a real opinion as to where they are now... but I'd love a Metallic tour and even more so and GNR / Metallica tour like the old days...

The Black Album is such a likable record - almost too likable for some fans! Fade to Black is also one of my favourites ... the verses are just so innovative and almost 'risky' when you put the record into context (at least from my understanding of that era). Bleeding Me from Load is actually my favourite track - it just evokes emotions that few songs can. In fact, my two favourite Metallica albums are Load and AFJA ... they show two totally different sides of the band. Anyway, thanks for sharing. It's nice to hear the opinion of others on the music you love, which is why I signed up to Jovitalk in the first place.

Quite a few of the original fans; would be the answer to the question. Some of those fans were done when Cliff was gone. Others stuck it out to witness what they would do next. ....And Justice For All is very much their Back In Black. They came back from death and went nuclear. They had the respect of the fans who had been there and had the world's eyes trained on them with their first music video, a Grammy nomination (and the controversy around Jethro Tull winning the category,) and a performance on the Grammys.
The Black album pandered to that new audience and actually gave pause or outright alienated those that had been there prior to the rest of the world jumping on the train. It's a classic in the commercial sense, but it is also considered as being the point the band sold out. The Load and Re-Load period only confirmed that. As for me... I check in and out. I checked out after "Live Shit.. Binge and Purge" after being checked in since "Puppets." It wasn't until Death Magnetic that I checked back in and I personally love that album. I have yet to listen to the new song save for a quick listen to part of it on FB over my phone speaker, which I do not count. |
In honor of the truth, both singles are lazy, that's how I feel, and I am a big fan of both bands.
But back to Metallica, I loved the return with Death Magnetic. I do not see much of St Anger in Hardwiered, the beginning reminds me Holier Than Thou, and the scheme and some tics remind me Death Magnetic, there is also a bit of My Apocalipsis, this already seemd something of Dyers Eve. I emphasize the sound of the song, it sounds fantastic, this time not there is a big wall of sound with clipping everywhere. James's voice sounds better, and is an opener track very cool and killer. The negative point of the song is that it not feels so new, and lacks some melody to break the monotony, but at least it's a short song. I think the second single will be the burner, like I think Bon Jovi has booked a great second single before the album is released. Regarding his discography, I can enjoy both their first 4 albums, like the Load-Reload era. Love Black Album and Death Magnetic. The only black spot for me, was St. Anger, even so, the edit version of Some Kind of Monster feels great for me. |

THINFS- 1.800.000 views - 43.000 likes - 1.900 dislikes in 8 days. The positive results are still in favor of Metallica. Why? because they are a very important band of Heavy Metal, and remain of interes. Bon Jovi makes music more accessible, more commercial for radio however. Metallica will sell much better this double album than the new Bon Jovi record. |
Quote:
But your comment on the "positive results" being in favour of Metallica are not necessarily correct. Yes, Hardwired has far more views and likes in less time, but it has, by proportion, more dislikes than THINFS. In other words the like/dislike ratio is in favour of Bon Jovi - but ultimately that means little. |

Looking forward to see if Lars can pull off those double bass pedal sequences! |
Ulrich also addressed the eight-year gap between studio albums, the longest of the band's career, by saying: "I think what's happened is our families and our domestic responsibilities are so important to us now, so we just have a new model. We're sort of constantly doing something but never to the point of the needle going in the red, but METALLICA really hasn't sort of shut down since around 2005, and it's a model that works for us."
He added: "We never work at 110 percent to the point where we drive ourselves nuts, but are sort of constantly working at two-thirds, you know — when we make the record we're writing and we're recording, but we're doing it incrementally. There's always stuff going on. It's the way we like it. It keeps us engaged." Ulrich told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that METALLICA no longer wants to devote large chunks of time to any one project. "You know, METALLICA, in order for it to be true and pure and honest, has to be fun," he said. "And so the days of, you know, writing for a year and then recording for a year and then going on the road for three years — those kind of endlessly long cycles — they're just behind us. I don't think we have the stamina to do anything for those elongated periods of time any longer." Read more at http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/met...m-in-november/ |
And if they turn out masterpieces , great! But if it's all disconnected, then what's the point... you can take that two ways

sound great, powerful. New trailer Hardwired... To Self-destructor (with 10 seconds of a new song in the end of trailer) https://cdn.meme.am/instances/500x/67428604.jpg |
I love Metallica, their live shows are second to none but I've only liked about 4 of their songs released in this century. And this one is no different, I' mean it's not bad it just sounds so meh to me. I think Metallica have had writers block since right after Re-load. They are just hiding it cleverly with St. Anger and Death Magnetic and now this.....

new James Hetfield interview.
On whether the band planned the U.S. Bank Stadium show to coincide with the announcement of their new album: “No, no. We’ve been working on this record, realistically, for eight years. But it’s been two years starting to put songs together and, literally, the last two months is when it all started to come together. We now have our own label. There’s no rules anymore as far as you’ve got to do what the record company says or what the manager says. It’s got to be cool and fun for us, that’s the number one priority.” On playing a big show after a lengthy break: “We freak out. ‘Oh my god, my arm hurts. I’m old!’ Everyone has those, we all get together and talk about them. Then we say, ‘OK, now that that crap’s out of the way, let’s kick some ass.’ I hear about a band like AC/DC that hasn’t played a show in six years. They don’t rehearse, they just get up and go. We’re not that. We need to get back in the space.” On how the band is getting along these days: “There are always bumps that happen in personal lives, and that affects the band’s life. Or band life affects your personal life. We’ve walked through lots of fires and we’ve come out stronger on the other side. At the end of the day, we are friends.” On the upcoming tour: “We’re not planning to go out and kill ourselves for three years. We love the road, we respect the road. But it can kill you. We’ve paid our dues. We want to tour smarter, be prepped for every gig, feel in the best health we can. It might be no two-in-a-rows. Maybe we’re only out for two weeks at a time. We just want, by the end of each show, to know we gave it our all and we feel great about it.” Here link of interview complete http://www.twincities.com/2016/08/20...er-than-later/ |

I love the new snippet Making of Hardwired (recording on the Studio) Behind the Music Video: hardwired. |
Yeah, "Blacked Out" sounds like something a little different - with some considerable groove on those riffs! I'm really looking forward to this album, Epica's The Holographic Principle, Pantera's 20th Anniversary Edition of The Great Southern Trendkill and Giraffe Tongue Orchestra's debut ... not to mention BJ and RSO - lots of interesting releases this year!

Bono mentioned the Experience album almost immediately after releasing Innocence. Hell, even the tour was named Innocence + Experience. So my guess is they wrote material for two albums (perhaps with some new songs since then); hence it is released as two separate albums. Otherwise, I don't see a band at their age that takes ~5 years in between albums nowadays would pop a new one after 2 years only. Possible, but not probable. |
