I agree! I can't wait to see them in concert. I saw them when they opened for Jovi, and I thought they were pretty good, but I think it'll be MUCH better at their own show in front of their own fans, I can't wait.

They are! Usually they play smaller venues that are a lot more personal too! I've been waiting a long time for this new album! I can't wait! My second favorite band!

Mr Bluesman 03-19-2006 07:00 PM

Yup, that sounds good. Thanks for the heads up.

yomamasofat 03-19-2006 08:18 PM

Excellent song! Can't wait for the album. Better Days, and now this? 2 killer songs already. I'd buy the album even though the rest is turd.

aph01 03-19-2006 08:37 PM

Ive never really listened to them. Are they the sort of band a Bon Jovi fan would appreciate?

Yea, not really like Bon Jovi but the music is in good taste. Light rock is what I'd call it. Check out songs like Iris, Big Machine, Broadway, Here Is Gone, and the new on Better Days.

Actually, I'd argue that the HAND as an album is pretty influenced by the GGD, or at least sounds kinda like them at times

If you like the 'modern - 21st century' Bon Jovi sound then you'll like Goo Goo Dolls. I'd agree with Walrus, Bon Jovi seem to have molded into the GGDs recently. Check out Dizzy Up The Girl and A Boy Named Goo. They're a nice stater, if you ask me.

eheaps 03-19-2006 09:39 PM

Iris, their biggest hit, is actually my all time favorite song. But, if you're starting out listening to the GGD, go for Iris, Cuz You're Gone, Name, Here Is Gone, Sympathy, there's so many good songs.

I never looked at if as if Bon Jovi being influenced by the GGD, how did you come up with that analysis?

Gabriel Shoes 03-19-2006 11:17 PM

Bon Jovi was NEVER be influenced by GGD

GGD makes adult songs, BJ actually makes "im gonna live my life" songs.

Captain Walrus 03-19-2006 11:30 PM

I disagree ... you listen to, say, Big Machine, it's not too dissimilar to something that Jovi may write nowadays

perhaps, but the lyrics of the GGD are miles ahead of what BJ penned lately...

Very true. They're going for different messages, I feel. It's more the music style that's similar.

Captain Walrus 03-20-2006 08:41 PM

Yeah, the musical style ... sorta that part-acoustic, part-electric modern pop-rock thing ... OK, that's a fairly wide tag perhaps, but ah well ...

Captain Walrus 03-20-2006 08:45 PM

Incidentally, I don't think that they're really my thing ... I have their live album, and while I do quite like some of it, nothing particularly reaches out and grabs me that much

That's exactly what I came on to say. I've always thought that was GGD's signature sound. The acoustic/electric thing. Bon Jovi have been doing that on the last few albums. Hell even the big lead off rock single had an acoustic guitar in it.

eheaps 04-05-2006 02:49 AM

I just bought the full song, "Stay With You" on iTunes, and i gotta say it's really one of those songs that you just fall in love with. It's awesome. Check it out, everybody, the Goo are back and better than ever. It should be getting raido play and all that it was officially released today as a single.

{_Warrior_} 04-05-2006 03:55 AM

The drum work sounds .......like HAND !?

RyanBounce04 04-05-2006 04:01 AM

I bought it yesterday at about 11 PM. I really love this song!!! Probably my favorite Goo song to date.

From what I've heard I'd call it a 'grower'. Better Days wasn't much for me when I first heard it, but it really did grow on me.

The London date is on June 3rd, same day BJ will play in Glasgow :(. I am really sad I'll miss them this time, especially because they are playing at the Brixton Academy, a very small venue. But this is only a promo show, so they may come back to the UK/Europe for the real tour.

I can't say that I'm a big GGD fan, some of their songs are okay, but this new one, which I saw on TV last night is awsome. It's the first Goo song that I heard and really liked. I might acually look for the CD it's on.
