Battle: Broken Heart vs Good Guys

Not sure if this has been asked before so sorry if it has!

Two extremely awesome Jovi songs, both featured on movie soundtracks, both fan favourites, yet niether on a studio album.

From what ive seen around the boards, id say that most people like Good Guys better the Broken Heart, but for me its the other way around. Edge of a Broken Heart has such awesome guitar work and the melody is beautiful. The intro is magic! For me, its a top 10 Jovi song.

Dont get me wrong, I love Good Guys! Its a mega ass kicking song . I just love EOABH too much. I think it wouldve been perfect on SWW along with Borderline.

So, which do you like better?

Dave 1986 07-04-2009 04:59 PM

Good Guys all the way! What a beast of a song.

EOABH is ok, but overrated in my books. Not bothered that it didn't make SWW at all. Sorry. :p

Edge Of A Broken Heart destroys that piece of shit.

kenobi_on_a_prayer 07-04-2009 06:13 PM

Good Guys, but Edge of a Broken Heart should have been on Slippery.

Captain Walrus 07-04-2009 06:54 PM

Edge Of A Broken Heart is a great song that sounds like it would have fit perfectly on Slippery. Good Guys is a beast of a song that manages to sound quite unlike anything in the whole Bon Jovi catalogue (maybe Taking It Back, but that's hardly well known). And for that, Good Guys wins for me :D

Captain Walrus 07-04-2009 06:55 PM

I think I may have voted for EOABH by accident :(

Brklyn94 07-04-2009 07:36 PM

Good Guys! Edge of a Broken Heart is an excellent song that Jon was stupid not to include on Slippery (then again we all know the story of Prayer so I wont go there XD), but Good Guys rocks and rocks and rocks!

DryCounty 07-04-2009 07:44 PM

Edge of a Broken Heart easily ! It got the sound from SWW and that sound is magic. Great guitar work and a great chorus ! Could easily have beaten Social Disease or Let It Rock. Godd Guys are a great song, but nowhere near Edge. :)

Crushgen24/88 07-04-2009 10:39 PM

Both are great, but I have to go with Good Guys. That being said, EOABH should have been on Slippery, as it's much better then Let it Rock, Without Love, and especially Social Disease.

I think EOABH is pretty average to be honest, especially when you compare it to everything else on SWW. GGDAWW on the other hand is kick ass!

Yup. I think the same.
Good guys all the way over Edge of A Broken Heart. (Although I still like "Edge..." ).
Good Guys is what a rocker should be, and would be awesome if some of the songs on the new album were just like it.

I think 'Edge Of A Broken Heart' is terrible. 'Let It Rock' is miles better. I'm glad it wasn't on SWW.

'Good Guys Don't Always Wear White', however, is a fantastic song. One of Bon Jovi's heavier songs with a brilliant rif, great vocals and the live performance from Wembley 1995 is stunning.

ZB_ 07-05-2009 10:47 PM

It looks as Bon Jovi of 80's vs BJ of 90's. Very hard...

Tictoc 07-05-2009 11:09 PM

GGDAWW was the best thing about that terrible film 'the cowboy way'

Excellent live also

danfan 07-06-2009 12:40 AM

Good Guys. I love EOABH but Good Guys had some sweet lyrics and one of the best guitar solors Richie has ever done. Just wish America didn't have it's head so far shoved up it's ass and hadn't ignored it at radio. Would have loved to hear that live.

crimson_05 07-06-2009 09:00 AM

Good Guys, Edge sounds too dated for me.

eddie73 07-06-2009 10:12 PM

good guys for me, edge just sounds way to gay, never liked it a lot really

Could you define "too gay"? If you meant "it's ****in' killer rock'n'roll of 80's", well.. it's not gay...

Well, I know.. The solo is starting to end right in the moment it's ending to begin, but it's still melodic..

steel_horse75 07-10-2009 02:29 PM

both are good songs and from different eras

Broken heart and Boderline are 2 of my favourite early BJ tracks

EOABH could quite easily replace Social Disease or Without Love (which I like but the band hate)

yep - heard them say if they could lose 1 from SWW and replace it with EOABH it would be Without Love - I think David Bryan hates this song more than anyone in the band - but dont quote me on that bit.

Brklyn94 07-10-2009 06:35 PM

I like Without Love! But if they should replace any song on SWW with Edge then yes, I do suppose it should be that one, because the rest of the songs are quite irreplacable....
