Bon Jovi on Ellen - October 23

Performance only, no interview. Pre-taped last week I guess, when they were in California.

http://www.interbridge.com/lineups.html#ED

Last April they played What About Now and Who Says at the show, so I bet it's going to be Because We Can and/or Wanted/Bad Name/It's My life this time

Stranger11 10-16-2013 04:48 PM

The current album is 7 months old, they donīt release a new single and when this airs on Oct. 21, there are only 5 shows left on the US leg. So why does Jon feel the need to play again on this show?

Duh - So he can play Who Says and It's My Life for the 4 millionth time on national television.

Walleris 10-16-2013 05:30 PM

My bet is on Amen. It's easy for Jon to sing and it's a song where Richie's absence is least significant. Because We Can doesn't make sense, even in their previous appearance, they played their more recent 'single' What About Now. And then off course, another song is a classic. Since they had played IML, Who Says and Bad Name on it before, I'd say Wanted. Although, I'd personally go for Faith if Jon can warmp up his pipes, again, it's a song where Phil can cover better for Richie. I just hope, we don't get acoustic Saturday Night or something :D

If it's easy for him to sing, why can't he ever sing it in tune?

Wanted won't ever happen on national TV without Richie. Faith won't happen because most people (sadly) don't know it.

Jon cares nothing about what he's played on a TV show before. He's played Bad Name on the Today Show 3 times now.

How do you know it's performance only? I'd like to hear Jon's latest response to the "is Richie still in the band" question.

There's multiple other guests being interviewed on that episode and Bon Jovi were placed last. We might get a brief ten second hello but nothing more than that.

Cause in the episode preview on the Ellen website it was specified as performance only... but now it has completely disappeared, so I guess BJ appearance has been rescheduled

New date: Wed 23 October

Captain_jovi 10-23-2013 04:15 PM

Twitter says they're doing Amen. I wonder if they were waiting for the holidays to launch a new single. It'd make sense.

Didn't they do Amen last time they were on? Maybe this show is just a repeat.

CKatz 10-23-2013 05:22 PM

Is this the first time that the band is on Ellen without Jon doing an interview with her? Jon hasn't done an interview in a long time. He let David do the recent promo interviews. It's like he doesn't want to be interviewed anymore during this "sensitive" time. Or maybe an interview with Ellen would be too awkward for him, because of what he told her last time about Richie's status in the band.

Captain_jovi 10-23-2013 05:38 PM

No, last time was What About Now. I don't think it's standard to do an interview with the performance, that's just the way it fell this time.

I don't see any more singles coming from the record. I think they could do Water or I'm With You, but clearly, they've given up on this one.

Captain_jovi 10-23-2013 06:12 PM

I still think Amen is next on the docket. Why go on a show and do a new song then?

No clue, but it's been so long since the 2nd single, I can't imagine pulling out a 3rd one now. The album's been off the charts for months. The tour's almost over. It would make no sense.

I'd guess to drum up radio support for the album. They haven't released a ballad in awhile and the song will be eaten up by Ellen's demographic. I can't knock 'em for trying rather than just giving up on the album. How much other support they'll give it who knows.

Was there even a 2nd single? I don't remember.

rolo_tomachi 10-23-2013 07:40 PM

I hope it has not been as bad as in the Katie show.
:(

I actually think it IS standard for at least Jon to interview when the band performs on talk shows. I can't think of any example that he hasn't.

I agree. The 2nd single was released in April but didn't chart anywhere. The announcement said to listen for it on radio but I never heard it get a single radio play here.

Maybe Jon just wants to officially release Amen as a single so he can include it on a future greatest hits album. :p

Interesting. What single would make it on the pop radio now? Water? What about Now didn't go to radio here? Gee...they were all over country radio with "Who Says" a few years ago. I think they need a Nashville influenced album again.
;)

It was just a band performance of Amen. no q&a at all. You can see on youtube.com/ellen.

I just noticed today, the picture on BJ FB from the Ellen show that Tico has longer hair, no grey and still has his weight on. I suspect it was filmed prior to his getting sick in early Sept. Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things since there was no interview.

Part of me is wondering why Tico has his entire kit set up.

sundaymike 10-24-2013 07:36 PM

Disgusting song! Its in the same leauge as "remember that you're perfect, god makes no mistakes". My ears and brain going to need a über-detox after hearing that.
